I currently live in Illinois and my oldest son lives in Wisconsin. There's a LGS by him that sells guns on consignment for much more favorable terms than the LGS' in my area. The Wisconsin LGS told me that I can bring them the guns directly, without shipping it to them through my LGS. Does anyone know for a fact that this is accurate? I know selling a gun to an out of state buyer needs to go through LGS'.

Selling a gun to someone out of state needs to go through a FFL; whether or not they are a LGS is irrelevant.
Since folks can legally per Fed rules, buy a long gun from out of state and take it home with them, I do not see any reason you can't take the guns up there. Folks ship guns to auction houses out of state for sale all the time.

The Wisconsin local gun shop, presumably having an FFL, can obtain guns from any source, including an individual in another state (that would be you). (In a consignment deal, possession is transferred, while legal title remains with the original owner until the gun is sold. But in any case, the ATF is only concerned with physical possession.) The Wisconsin dealer would enter the gun into his "bound book" and then log it out when it is sold. If, for any reason, the gun is not sold, and you want it back, it would have to come back to you through an Illinois FFL.

Taking the gun back wouldn't be a good option due to the cost of shipping it back to my FFL so I wouldn't go ahead with this without being 100% sure, but that's what I've done with any gun I've sold. Thanks for the info. It's good to know I have this as an option.
