So I posted about taking to the recycler and y'all convinced me to sell local.
I posted on a large local form like the Highroad
But members not nearly as smart.
$3.00 a pound 1 bucket min all sorted.
Questions from potential buyers.
Location?
In Capitol letters twice in the post.
How many ??? Are in a bucket.
In the post I clearly said I dont know and wont guess.
Will you deliver?
No in cap letters states you must pick up.
Will you ship?
Says in post cap letters NO SHIPPING.
How much dose each bucket weigh?
In post is says I dont know weights of full buckets.
And I got way more questions that are clearly addressed in the post.
I just dont know this is a last ditch effort before I visit the recycler.
Want to keep this in circulation but theirs a guy selling brass deprimmed polished sorted by headstamp $35.00 for 500 Really? I guess if you got the time and passion.

What caliber brass do you have? If possible, can you guess at # of pounds or small buckets, or large buckets? And how much $$ are you wanting?

Maybe that will help anyone wanting to purchase any brass.

He’s mentioned $3 a pound with a one bucket minimum, but doesn’t know how much a bucket weighs. Sorted by caliber I assume not by head stamp.

I was jus amazed at the plethora of dumb questions. It was listed as full 5 gallon buckets.
And your right!! For all the dumb questions not 1 dollar.
I really am hoping to keep it in our hobby network and not turned into some plumbing fitting....
No good deed goes unpunished.

Same sorta stuff I ran into. Too many guys ask stupid questions and want to pay scrap prices for clean and sorted brass. That's why most most of my surplus is going to the scrap yard.

If things keep going south like they are now in about a year you will be able to swap it even for gold I bet. Too bad nobody wants to pay a reasonable price today for that brass. If I was closer I would buy it just because it might be scarce soon and then it will go for a better price.
Last time I sold some .22 brass to the recycler they lept it seperate as they were required to shred it brfore selling it to China I was told. I am now in the process of getting swaging tools to make my own .224 bullet jackets and swage bullets.

The open market is full of stupid. You could have fun with it and give them the math problem with the volume of a case and let them try and figure it out. A bucket of 9mm is several thousand as a sandwich bag is over 500. I would only post on a gun form to reduce the fustrating emails and that only slows it down a little...

I know you say you don't want to ship. But have you thought of doing it in large flat rate boxes? Price is as you see fit, buyer pays shipping? Probably more then scraping it and just move it in bulk. No sorting or anything. Just a box of brass. Let the buyer do that work.

That's what I was going to suggest. Free supplies, and if you are handy you can just print the label off on your printer and be done with it. It's not that big of a deal, but... on the flip side... it's not a big moneymaker, either... it is what it is.

You can also schedule free pickups with USPS. It doesn't get any easier.

People who ask silly questions are usually not interested to begin with. Respond to legitimate questions and ignore the rest.

If you are selling by the pound you do need to know the weight of a bucket. A bathroom scale would be close enough. It sounds like you gave it a good try. I would just scrap it and be done.

Ummmm... Has cognitive dissonance set in yet? No offense, but I think you're the problem. You're selling an unknown quantity of brass for a specific price per pound, with a minimum purchase amount, yet can't provide the weight of the minimum amount. How in the hell would anyone know how much money to bring to the table???? I'm truly dumfounded at your post. Truly.

How would you even calculate a price if you can't determine a weight? If you expect the buyers to do their part, you need to do your part as a seller.

I would normally never suggest this, as I'd MUCH rather see brass staying within the reloading circles, but in your case, I think the best bet is to just take it to the recycling center where someone else can do the obvious work for you.

SMH.
