Selling Brass what a pain.....

60 pounds average per five gallon bucket sound about right.

When I pick up brass at the local gravel pits I use gallon paint cans and they average right around ten pounds.

I alway have a couple gallon paint cans and a few three or five gallon plastic buckets in the back of the truck for picking up brass.

I bought a magnet from Harbor Frieght for picking up shotgun hulls and steel rifle & pistol cases at the gravel pit
Every weekend I pick up buckets & bags full of garbage cases. The steel cases ho to the recyle yard, the shotgun hulls go to the garbage transfer station.
It take several weekend to get ahead on the garbage at the gravel pit.

LOL!!! I feel your pain.

If you want to turn it up a notch, try giving something away for FREE.

People never cease to amaze me:cuss:

Wife and I have been cleaning out the house and giving away a lot of stuff.

The inconsiderateness of people just ASTOUNDS me. I can't tell you how many times we've agreed to put something out for someone to pick up and they don't show. Wife follows up with them and the stories are often really amazing. And I'd actually be OK with a no-show if they followed up and acknowledged they didn't follow through.

So.... Good news sold all but the bucket of 30/06
Another $725.00
Now this guy wants to resell in smaller batches.
Good on him just happy it's not going to scrap.
Fyi.....
A bucket filled to the very top....
223. 63lb
9mm 90lb
40cal 71lb.....
So my total was $1,325.00
I still have lots of uncommon pistol and rifle brass to post for sale 1 day.

The good news I will be posting here all the ...
10mm, 303brit, 35rem, 45/70, 6.5cred, 25/06, 280rem, 300win mag, 270 weatherby 3030, and the rare Win 307

I didn't read every post but just a few days ago I was trying to figure out how much 9mm brass I have on hand. A one pound container of 9mm brass had 120 cases in it. I had 26 pounds of brass total so I should have around 3120 pieces of brass. Thats close enough for me. And that should hold me for a while and I also bought some cheap tarps at Harbour Frieght I will spread out and try to catch my brass.

You can sure tell the differance in weight from a mixed bucket of rifle brass compared to a mixed bucket of handgun brass.

I visit the recycler about 2 times a year. All my scrap brass goes with me. Mangled cases. Berdan primed cases, calibers I don’t shoot etc etc intake that money and ......... you guessed it but more gun stuff whatever it might be!

If you decide to take the brass to the metal recycler (which is what I do with my retired reloaded brass and odd range scroungings), be sure it is rung up as "brass shells' and not "mixed brass" (locally a difference of 30 cents more per pound for cartridge brass than for common brass).

The recycler I visit adds 5% to the payout for veterans.
I took my scrap bucket brass that I had collected for 5 years or so to the local recyler. He busted my chops for 25% because of it being fired in a firearm and then it only paid out a little over 6 bucks after it was all said and done. It's 17 miles one-way to the scrapper and my truck gets 19 MPG. At $2.50 a gallon my time and effort is worth a little over $2.00?? Nuts to that. I just toss the worn out cases and scrap brass in the trash now.

When it comes to firearms and related items I’ve found that there are more really ignorant people out there than there are intelligent and informed ones. That’s the reason I frequent this forum and four or five others and that’s about it.
