Shooting Watermelons

I was in the hills and stopped at the local shooting spot and these guys were shooting watermelons, I went over to them and the first guy I approached asked me this;

Watermelon, Salt or No Salt, that is the Question??

BTW If you want melons to blow up more spectacularly when you shoot them, cut a hole in the top and fill them with water first.

I prefer to eat my watermelon, but I have shot overripe ones with a 444. It brings a smile to my face.

I prefer to cut out a small hole at the top, place an opened bottle of vodka or rum in it and stand that baby upright in a tub with ice for a day or two

A girl I work with at my local gun club bought one of those for her 4 year old son. It is DEVASTATING on flies at a few feet

Local store had a sign today that due to excessive rain in FL there was a shortage of watermelons.

As always, be careful what you shoot. It could wind up to be a valuable commodity.

I hoped they cleaned up the target area when they were done. Went to set up targets one day at my local range and someone had done that a couple days earlier. I was besieged by swarms of flies and gnats. NOT FUN.

But I do like turnips and I am not above blasting a watermelon with a Desert Eagle.

Mmm. The smell of Tannerite and Pumpkins. One of my favorite scents, Glade should make it in an aerosol spray for the house!

You couldn't tell that by all of the guys with trucks and wagons full of them trying to sell them for $3/each; they'll drop to $2 each in another two weeks or so

Is it weird I’ve never shot a watermelon? I just never thought about it. I’ve only seen it on YouTube. Sounds like I’m missing out.

Ditch the vodka/rum and use Everclear. Did that a few times when I was a ignorant young man but wouldn't think about it now.
For those of you that like to use fruits and vegetables as targets please shoot some beets. My mom use to make me eat them 3-4 x a week when I was younger and I absolutely detest them. I say less beets in the world is a good thing.

We used Everclear in college - once. Someone hastened its entry into the melon and the bottom half was inedible - but VERY flammable!.
