A lgs has a sporter1891 Argentine, for $110 I'm thinking of getting, I'm in the middle of a ar15 build so this would be the money I'd spend on the larue trigger.

I've owed probaby 7-8 91 argetines so I'm familiar with them, only have the semi custom one at the moment.

About the gun, it's a bit more then the usual cut down 91. Barrel looked to be 22-24" has a William rear sight on the barrel, it almost looked a touch off level but could be my eyes. Short front sight post Soldered on not the original band.
Crest on the action was ground off but looks well done, not drilled and tapped I actually prefer that. Bolt is not bent either, bolt, action, barrel matching not that it matters since it cut up. I checked the bore quick but can't really remember if it was good, tho nothing screamed out to me.
Normal cut down stock, had a small crack behind the tang, should be fixable, can't blame it being so old. I'm not sure if I Hurd the owner right but it may come with 3 boxes of ammo with a few missing in each.

all seem fine for the price but the magazine is missing, a year ago I remember seeing them for $30 now there $50+ if found in stock. I can use my other rifles mag until I get a magazine.

I figure at worst I can get a 45 acp barrel and make a fun little shooter.

So should I grab the Argentine.

If you buy the gun, I just happen to have a magazine for a 91 lying around. Shoot me a PM with your address and I'll give it to you for free. I have no use for it, The rest of the gun was parted out long ago.

Wow thanks, yes hope to it still there, I may have the money by tomorrow. It's not a gun thats going to fly off the shelf, but it's my luck someone will buy it lol.

I wouldn’t buy it.., especially if I already had 1. But then, I wouldn’t spend the money on a “Pepé Le Pew” trigger either.

Although, you certainly don’t need anyones approval or disapproval, for that matter.;)

Anyone here have one of the 45 acp barrels, the thread on the 1891 are a little different from the normal small ring barrel but fit fine. 45acp may fit in the 91 mag to, don't have any 45 here to try tho. I have a 91 barrel but was turning it down on the lathe, still need to finish it tho in case this barrel won't shoot for some reason.

Duh!

I have that 24-in small ring 243 barrel too. Don't know if you can make that fit or not.
i can fit it, a little more pressure then I'd like to shoot in a 91, there pretty strong for a small ring but no safety lug and don't mitigate gases well more so on early guns with the smooth bolt shroud. 35 rem I think I'd be Comfortable with shooting factory ammo. Tho some of the 7.65 can be pretty warm, but think it's 130 years old.

Could punch it out to 9x57 or something similar.

Most of me wants to say yes, you’ll end up with a handy little rifle when it’s done, but…another side of me knows what happens when too many irons are stoked by the same fire.

I passed up two forlorn rimfires this week, one a Belgian SA-22 in favor of a new 1911 that I won’t get to tinker with much but my own project list didn’t swell because of it. In fact I got 5 rifles/pistols sorted that were needing it and the thought of taking some range time to enjoy them has me stoked enough. For now.

I think this gun after a few things will be ready to use, it may come with the ammo but if not grafs has brass or I'll make some it's easy. Tho I need to get some dies, I've used 303 in the past to get by but I have stillquitevoice on here my 303 dies. I think I need to order some 3006 dies to for the 09 Argentine I got to.

Nicely done snabel on that foreend. I like the half-round octagon barrel too.
I like how it came out, lucky there was enuff wood. Plus I had to remember there the hole for the cleaning rod, I wanted a little more taper but it's hard to judge how much wood is there before the rod hole underneath. Used a round file the chisel to blend.

Some more old pictures of the custom 91from several years ago, I'm still not finished had some things to do and may rust blue and pretty it up one day. I haven't shot it much other then some paper patched 308 lead bullets with lighter loads, I need some 318 jacketed to load up, I've got a custom .320 sizer for lead. May try shooting some sized jacketed bullets to.
