First Sig I owned was a P228. Still one of my favorite 9mms. It is a great carry gun. Perfect balance of a Combat 9mm and civilian carry gun. More accurate than I will ever be and will outlast me more than likely.... Great choice. Have fun with it and be safe.

the Sig's grip just feels right compared to, say, the Beretta M9. It's the thinnest double stack 9mm i've had so far.

oh, never had night sights either, found that to be a novelty at best............what's the consensus on them?

Nights are nice to have. I have them on my 2 P228s. They are 3 dot trijicons. I personally like them on my CCW and house guns.

The only slimmer double stack 9mm is the BHP IMHO. They edge out the P228 for me because they fit me better.

The P228 is a very close second.

true, now what do u guys prefer for carry ammo? Are Sig P228 rated for +P+ ammo like winchester ranger?

forget the sig, carry the luger!!

Very nice looking piece, I envy those who can handle a Sig properly, grip is just too fat for me.

thanks, i might ccw the Makarov in the summer, as you can tell i like my guns to be metal on metal, never kept any plastic guns for too long.

My regular choice in loading for 9mms is the Ranger 127gr +P+, with a secondary choice of the Gold Dot 124gr +P...my feeling is that Sigs are built around NATO 9mm pressures, I just make sure to replace the recoil spring at regular intervals and to keep the rails greased.

My personal choice in night sights for a defensive pistol is a single dot on the front blade and a plain black rear sight. I've found the 3-dot setup slow to allow recognition of alignment. The other setup I've used with success is a front dot and a horizontal bar under the rear notch...I don't know where to get this, mine was a custom setup

It seems that the majority of your new guns are rated for +p loads, I could be wrong.

I like hornady critical defense and TAP ammo in my guns and .223. However my XD that sleeps on my night stand has 17 rounds of WINCHESTER BLACK TALON....pretty much the rangers .... no target practice with those, expensive when u can find them :)

oh hey! Thanks for giving me that deal on the Sig P228, it was you that i bought it off of. I've gotta say though, after field stripping the thing i noticed there's hardly ANY wear marks, score for me right? :D

enjoy your new Glock, and congrats again

nice sig and nice collection...i also have a 92 (3 of them lol) and a tokarev is almost in the mail. a makarov is on the list for next year..nice carry piece tho.

I wish mine had fit my hands better. It was an accurate (in slow fire) and 100% reliable gun.

I suggest an inspection and possible upgrade of the trigger bar spring under the right-hand grip panel, as this is prone to breakage, if mine was representative.

Sig makes very good guns and this looks like a good one. In fact S&W had to come up with 3rd generation autos to counter them.
I'm looking at new CCW tomorrow. It's extremely ugly 10 shot 9x19 Modell M by Steyr. They make good dump trucks so perhaps handguns offered by them are good too.
