Whisperfan - someday, if I can talk the wife around, I'd like a setup like that (though probably with a few more pistols than you're showing, as I like handguns). I'm seriously envious. Nicely done.

Tomh1426 - goodGAWDAMIGHTY!!! SOMEBODY'S ready for the approaching zombie apocalypse! Personally I think I'd want a LITTLE more variety in my collection, but there's something to be said for not having to think about which magazines and ammo go with which weapons, I guess.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well guys, i couldn't find this in the search (sorry if its already a topic like this) so, show us the inside of your gun safes. This should be interesting!!

Call me paranoid if you want, but a new member (who could be anybody, or from any government agency),asking to see into my gunsafe, in the middle of this election cycle, and all that it can bring, is over the top.

Nope, you ain't getting a look pal.

Well if any one follows the link to the old thread i mentioned they will certainly get an eye full.:what:
Election cycle or not as long as everything one owns is legal i really cant see what's the big deal.
Of course i know some are very paranoid that some web bot will find out the place they live(highly unlikely imho) and come to break in and take their precious firearms.
But i did enjoy the old thread very much.

A quick peek inside.

So he can find your house and break in..... :neener:

I'll see if I can get a pic up here later.

Well, it's not totally paranoid. Conceivably someone could track down the owner of a gun collection via their internet postings.

This was discussed here:

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=264866&highlight=$500

Someone surmised that it was possible to locate a collector's physical address off the net.

A person who knows their way around a computer can back track from your post on here and find out where the computer you typed your response in this thread is located.

Texasrifleman said,

No they can't.
Not without getting help from your ISP.
The only way that can happen is if you own a registered IP address which very few folks do.

If that's true, find someone to tell you who I am and where I am, using these tricks. There's $500 bucks in it for you.

I need to see the steps documented and where the info came from.

500 cash.

A poster named Spaknaveli actually located Texasrifleman.

Texasrifleman then said,

Spaknaveli should scare you all.

Though he did not use the system described above, locating the posting PC by "back tracking", he did indeed track me down and even called my house. He didn't find the location of the PC since I am not at home, I am using a Verizon wireless EVDO card but that's nitpicky and the end result is the same. I saw the missed call because Vonage emails me when I get a call.

The detractors (I'm formerly one) should be scared.

I appreciate him doing that, it was indeed a real eye opener.

Since I invited it I'm certainly not mad or anything, indeed quite the opposite.

Knowing how it was done will allow me to take some steps, but it's very impressive.

If he wants I will buy him a Molon Labe had from Correia as thanks.

Then there was a beef about the $500. Texas wasn't going to pay, so he ended up paying half that.

We should all be vigilant regarding identity theft......yet most hackers won't anticipate the poison tipped punge sticks, alligator pit, hungry testicle eating pitbulls, electronic security system, gun toting live-in-mother inlaw, sheriffs deputy next door, poison snakes that live in the safe, and the high voltage perimeter fence.

Hey - I'll play .....

It's not really a 'safe' ..... so to speak - but it is pretty safe!

I built my vault when I poured my basement.

Whisperfan,

Thats pretty much what I have been wanting for years...

I wonder if I could do that on a house that already built???

I've been wanting to do like a 6'x6' or 6'x4'(at smallest), with a vault door...

I could envision how to frame up and pour the walls, but I don't know how I'd do the top...

Solution: Don't access the internet from your home. ;)

Actually thats not that hard to do. I used to be a network admin before the field fell apart in 2001. Thats not really the problem though. I mean, if thats what worries you, what about the guy who you showed ID to buy your ammo? He knows where you live. Or that online place you order ammo from, they know too! Maybe the local gunshop. What about at the ranges that require paperwork? They know too.

I just think it humorous that people would freak out like that.
