What are the blue tip 38 rounds you have pictured with your nickel S&W. Nice looking piece by the way. Are they Glaser Safety Slugs??

I think NJ3 has those some original S&W Nyclads pictured.

I always thought a cylinder full of those bluish-purple critters looked cool.

After all, you gotta be respectful, it takes a real man to shoot purple bullets. :D

Federal Nyclads, I bought all that I could find at my favorite gun shop. :neener:

Nice looking piece by the way.

Thank you HiWayMan

My turn. Just got a decent digital camera recently. I haven't played with it much so I apologize in advance if the pic is too big or not so good.

Oh, BTW- it is a Taurus 85CH circa 1991.

Chaim .. good to have the pic .... suggestion tho .... two points.

First ... you can lose some of the background and crop in if you can on the gun .. that will save you file size ... that pic is 220k and approx 50% adds nothing to the subject! Second .. if saved with a bit more compression - again size of file shrinks.

When I attach it seems buggy recently but I'll try this ... just another version of your pic .. but cropped and compressed 15:1 .. so now only 42k!!! Even something like the freebie ''Irfanview'' can help you with sizing down, tho the last version did not IIRC give a cropping facility.

Thanks Chris. I know that the software that came with my camera allows me to crop the pics, I'll crop them closer from now on. I don't know if it allows compression though, I'll have to go through the program and documentation to see. I guess, even if it doesn't, I could simply shrink the physical size of the pic more to shrink the file size. If it doesn't allow compression I'll look for the program you mention.

Jeff ... (heck, have I got that right!?) .... go take a look at my mini site THR Image Matters and read a little around the aspects of image file size and type etc .. quite a few things there might help you.

I also posted on here a short thread on a simple way to light your pieces ..... That's here - and I may add that to the other site when time. Take a peek if you feel like it.

Compression ... well, read up on the ''image matters'' and you'll see what that's about. But essentially it is something the level of which you can - or should be able to choose. It applies to JPG files .. what we almost exclusively use. It is a ''lossy'' format ... which means over compression results in pic not expanding to its old quality. Low compression is no prob... I find 15:1 a good level to try and stay at.

That means ... if original BMP (no compression at all) image is say .. 750k . then 15:1 will get it to 50k. If you have queries - feel free to PM me.:)

Chris, yes Jeff is the name. It is my English name, and the one that the IRS knows me by. Chaim (actually Chaim Dov) is my Hebrew name. So both are actually my "real" names and I'll answer to either.

Thanks for the tips. I'll still have to check to see if my software will do compression or if I need to download or buy a new program. Thanks also for the link to the lighting thread. I've been having fun playing with lighting, though I hadn't thought about putting a white sheet over the lights. Reduces glare I suppose?

Re: the speed stip issue...I carry 5 rounds with the little strap cut off...fits perfectly in the watch pocket of my jeans...with 6 it will stick out....and with five rounds it fits in my off side dump pouch on my bodyguard rig.....here's my 442....surprised to see not one pair of hideout grips in this threzad....they are great for the money...

Stand_Watie, thanks for the pic. I love the convenience of the Barami Hip Grips but they do increase the felt recoil. I'd like to ge a Tyler grip for it.

Here's my wife's model 38 Smith

OOPS:confused: Wrong gun. The forup won't let me post my wifes model 38 due to it being posted in another thread. This is a pic of a 638 and looks identical to my wife's m38
