Hey I wanted to know what year my Sig P220 is. The serial number is
G276893 so I know it was made after 1994 since those started with 219. I was wondering why mine had a steel recoil spring instead of the green tint though? maybe someone replaced it before I bought it?

There should be a two letter date code stamped on the botton of the slide near the muzzle.

Sig
A = 0
B = 1
C = 2
D = 3
E = 4
F = 5
G = 6
H = 7
J = 8
K = 9

Yours is newer and wouldn't have a date code most likely. Is your recoil spring multi-strand braided? If it isn't then most likely it was replaced with a Wolff or similar. If it is braided, minus the green paint, could mean a couple things IMO. My P220's came with green marked springs and after years of cleaning the green pretty much came off. Either that or your P220 was made before the switch to the heavier (green) recoil springs. I have 2 P220's in the 278xxx and 279xxx serial range, both came with green marked recoil springs and no date codes.

Yes it is braded. The my guess is that the green faded off since the pistol is one of the 276 line and mine has the post '94 hammer reset spring. Thanks for the info.:)

FWIW I have two 220s at the moment, a KA and a KC. Both original recoil springs are multi strand and have no coloring, however the factory replacements do and it helped a lot;) .
