So, I got one of these on a trade it's a .40 caliber. It's in 98% condition and in great shape, I was just wondering if anyone knew anything (good/bad) about these. I really can't find too much information out there....

I was thinking about trading it for a CW pistol such as a Kahr maybe a Para...it just "feels" BIG, or should I just keep the damned thing and tuck it in the back of my safe?

By the way, I know I'm still a "newb" to the site, but that doesn't mean I haven't been lurking around...

This is it (sorry about the pictures, they were from my phone)

That's pretty close to what I carry. Except mine is a 9mmP.

I like it a lot, or I would carry something different.

I'm surprised you can find information of the Sig 226 as there is a lot of information about it on the internet.

The 226 is the flagship of the Sig Sauer Classic P-series...the only thing that would make it more iconic is if it were chambered in 9X19mm...and is available in more variations than any other model in their line. The 226 almost became the gun (M9) that replaced the 1911 as the US Military issue sidearm.

The model you have has an allot frame topped by a milled stainless steel slide that has been coated in Nitron...earlier 226s had a carbon folded/stamped slide...has a external extractor and 3-dot nightsights. It also has the latest updated takedown lever. Yours has the tubular steel guide rod and the long (thicker) trigger.

226s are known for their outstanding accuracy out of the box and the DAK trigger is one of the best DAO trigger systems available with it's two separate reset points

Thanks guys!!!

I just pumped about 50 rounds of FMJ through it last night, it actually shoots really comfortable...a lot better than the Stoeger Couger in a .40 I have.

I found information about it, just not a lot of first-hand information....I like the weapon but I think I'm going to throw it up on Armslist for a good concealed carry.

I love Sigs, but not necessarily the DAK trigger variants. I prefer the DA/SA versions.

But, it seems that you have made your decision on this one, good luck with the sale, and let us know what you pick up!

I have the P229 in .40S&W DAK and really like the pistol. IMHO the DAK trigger system is better than the SA/DA. The trigger pull is the same all the time, unless you ride the trigger which I tend not to do. I shoot Glocks and 1911's most of the time which have the same trigger pull each time. I've grown to like that aspect and shoot them very well. The DAK is a nice compromise between Glock trigger and SA/DA. Do a quick Google search and check out the P226 wiki page it will have a lot of information concerning the P226.

I'm not sure about other agencies, but the 40S&W P226R DAK is the issued handgun of the Michigan State Police. All you need to go with it is the Kramer MSP paddle.

Oooo....I'm going to look into that!

Got a chance to pound 50rds. yesterday...should've never shot the damned thing, now I wanna keep it
