I bought a used R-Spec for next to nothing a while back to play around with on my TRR8. I’ve been very impressed. It’s accurate, has a huge window, holds zero, built like a tank, is super cheap, and most importantly…it looks cool. Cons are that it’s absolutely huge (much bigger than I expected), kinda heavy for a red dot, and most importantly…the switch to change the reticle is pretty finicky and the detents are kinda off. Again though, I bought it used and it’s hard to say how much abuse it took. I mean it’s a cheap optic that people usually don’t go out of their way to take care of. Some people also consider battery life a con but I usually don’t base my decisions off of post apocalyptic world’s where I can’t replace an $8 battery every 6-12 months.
I’m pretty interested in their more expensive M-Spec though. It has a smaller footprint, shake awake, a gimmicky sunshade that looks kinda useful, NV, and an overall better built quality.
If it’s really the optic that I hope it would be, the only con is that people are going to make fun of me for using a Sightmark, and then they’ll make fun of me for using it on a revolver. I’ve already ready been subject to this abuse as previously mentioned though so I’m okay with that. Optic shame and cyber bully me all you want but I will never be a victim again.
