sure it makes sense but DONT TYPE IT if its not anywhere near a fact. This reminds me of Democrats excusing themselves for the same behavior the accuse others of... ... ...

To be fair as you stated this spring has been unprecedented time of NFA submissions. It gonna extend wait times period. IMHO these website companies should make fair AND BOLD note of this on the websites. But hey '90 days' sells like hotcakes so I cant bash anyone. I'm 1500 doll hairs into it, I aint backing out now right?
Do you not know the answer to a question you ask of yourself?o_O

Hey all, who has purchased through silencer shop.com? They advertise 90 days, many many happy customers. Today my eform 4 was officially submitted and my local dealer called for pertinent info. During the call she mentioned its about 5 months on wait time currently. is the near double advertised time a bait and switch? Or are ATF fluctuations quite normal? Ive read a few testimonies. One guy had one suppressor he was almost 2 months into wait time while ordering another one. He actually received the one he ordered later first. My take away is its really at the hands of whatever ATF paper pusher's desk your paperwork gets dropped on...
Hey Bamper! Looking forward to working together! We're ATF compliant and in Jan 2022, the eForms material they posted communicated their processing time of "90 days" . We've posted the average of approval times ("ATF wait times" in the middle of the top bar) and posted real world receipts that customers have tagged us in on social media on Twitter. We've also posted what ATF has communicated in July 2022 re: their processing times. If you have further questions, just send a DM through Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Thanks again!

It's all good I'm not unhappy. Just a NFA virgin learning my way lol. 90 is advertised but reality is almost double that on avg. And I get you guys and others are just stating what the ATF is saying. It can just be a little misleading for a newbie is all. Now, is it time for a conjugal visit?:thumbup:

Mine got cleared on day 148 going through silencershop.com for whatever that's worth.

Bought my can on the day eForm's went live. Which was by pure coincidence that it just so happened that way. I knew they were being talked about, but just wanted to get started on waiting and bit the bullet.

Awesome! Congrats! Pew PEW!

Still faster than paper forms. I'm 11 months and 8 months into two paper form 4's. I'm 4 months into my e-form 4, hoping that one will come back soon.

Mine took this long:

1 years 0 months 20 days
or 12 months 20 days
or 55 weeks 0 days
or 385 calendar days

1 year and 18 days for my stamp from application to receipt. Applied September 9th 2021, tax stamp dated September 20th 2022, received tax stamp one week later, today, the 27th. Form 4 paper

Yesterdays mail (delivered at 730pm :cuss: )
Paper Form 4's
Submitted (edited to add: actually the date it was signed)
2/5/2021, approved 9/14
8/3/2021, approved 9/19
8/28/2021, approved 9/20
9/1/2021, approved 9/15

Three different examiners.

Is this length of time common? Thanks
It depends on what you mean by common.:D

By law, ATF is supposed to update their processing times every 90 days. Here's a link to that: https://www.atf.gov/resource-center/current-processing-times

A year ago the average for paper Form 4's was eight months. ATF didn't post any processing times for the last quarter of 2021, nor the first quarter of 2022..........because they knew there would be a lot of angry applicants. I'm guessing they thought the reintroduction of eForm 4's in late December would mask the dismal times of paper.

IMO, ATF made a huge mistake in processing any eForm 4 before clearing out their backlog of paper Form 4's. Eventually someone in government cried FOUL! and ATF put a priority back on paper Form 4's. I'm getting ten approvals on paper Forms 4's for every eForm 4 over the last two months.

Day after tomorrow is the end of the third quarter. ATF usually takes a couple of weeks to update those processing times. I fully expect to see the average for paper F4's to jump to 14 months and for eForm 4's to jump to at least 180 days. That's IF they update at all.

What I meant was the others were 12-13 months and the one was 17 months. I was just surprised how much longer that one was.
Gotcha.
Things that can delay approval are:
-very common name, returning multiple records.
-one of those records included a prohibited person
- the original BG checked "timed out" after 30 days, requiring another BG check.

Buuuuuutttttttt................in this case, the customer may not have promptly dropped it in the mail. Unlike the other three, this one was not submitted by Silencer Shop. I signed it as "transferor" on 2/5/21 and he took it home to mail with his photo/prints/check. As often happens once they leave here they get sidetracked.

I'll edit my post above to clarify paper submitted= date signed.

I have four items that are just over 200 days. All eforms. Not the end of the world, I am glad the paper form 4s are getting priority. It isnt right that someone that has been waiting 10-12 months on a paper from 4 has some dink like me cuts in front of them with my eform submission.

Thanks, I appreciate you sharing your knowledge and experience. I hope it's not wishful thinking on my part, that once all the paper Form 4s are processed that the goal of 90 days is achievable.

Oh, its achievable all right. But whether ATF efficiently uses its resources isn't the only issue. The background check nightmare is still 100% in the FBI's domain. ATF could be fast, efficient, helpful and solve problems by midnight.....but the FBI not prioritizing or even treating NFA background checks the same as Title I guns will remain a problem.
