Quick police response likely reduced the number of injured and killed people.
Yes! That's what's new in these latest incidents. Police presence, and changes to the police "rules of engagement," have done more to minimize casualties than magazine restrictions ever would have.

The OP was about magazine capacity, not gun models or politics. We all have our theories. None has personal experience with one of these situations. Your vote is as valid as the next, but what good is banging each other over the head about the inevitable difference in perspective?

As long as you have to pause 2 secs after every 10 bangs on someone's head, I don't see the harm in it

Honestly, I voted "yes" on the poll. I believe that if magazines were limited to 10 rounds, it would reduce the number of casualties in mass shootings. I am an ardent supporter of the second amendment and an Endowment Member of the NRA. I also do NOT support any legislation restricting magazine capacity or types of firearms in the hands of law abiding citizens. But it is disenguous to say that a mass shooter could "do just as much damage with multiple 10 round magazines as ones that hold 30 rounds or more". Most of these evil individuals are not highly skilled and have not trained for attempts at mass murder, but given 30 or 40 rounds to fire without having to reload makes the potential for casualties much greater.
Of course, there is no way to effectively eliminate magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. And consider that it is estimated that there are over 100 million AK-47's in existence world wide. And, yes, they have high capacity magazines and are real assault rifles, capable of full automatic fire. So, even if the millions of law abiding citizens were to surrender their "high capacity" magazines, and even their semi automatic rifles, are we so naive to believe that people intent on evil won't find a way to get their hands on a tool to carry out their desire to commit mayhem?
I wish I had answers as to how to stop mass shootings. It is clear that the problem is not the proliferation of weapons, since according to the DCM, over 270,000 M-1 carbines were sold by mail order from 1958 to 1967, and the only mass shooting I can recall from that era was the University of Texas shooter, Charles Whitman, and one of his weapons was an M-1 carbine. Why are so many occurring in the last decade, and at the moment? Video games? Social media? 24 hour news cycle? Education system? Parenting? Destruction of the nuclear family? Psychotropic medications? I wish I knew....
Sorry to get long winded.

There will always be more focus on a Mass Murder especially from sources like CNN. Even watching it now they are playing the political card like crazy even so much as blaming Trump. Yet they do not focus on the thousands of murders committed each day by Crimminals who do not obey the law in the first place. Baltimore now home to the far left Kayala Smith for her campaign as had a 28% increase as reported last week. Magazines have nothing to do with those crimes. Why have the last three Mayors in that city alone done something to stop crime? Are they so stupid too believe that a law against Magazines will stop it?
It is well know the crime statistics of the sections of ILL. where it is basically a war zone. Why not the focus on those places? Why? because it does not fit into their political Propaganda.

Look at how many people have killed in each month. Have many gun crimes. Now these are not law abiding citizens, not members of the NRA, do not get CCW permits, and could care less about magazines. But why does CNN not focus on these folks?

Jake Tapper's show had a discussion of the many nonrampage gun shootings along with the current incidents. We are going off topic into general discussions, so can we reign it back in. Too many just emotional outbursts and politics.

I have often wondered why there is no “moral outrage” with the many thousands a year killed by the auto and pharmaceutical industries. A plane crash that kills hundreds gets 45 seconds of news coverage and blamed on “pilot error” and we move on to the next one without banning them, what about the children?
Because there is the agenda of pushing for gun control to the point of gun ban - The anti-gun crowd has already made this very clear.

Mentally ill will likely switch to gasoline or explosives eventually. Magazine capacity has little to do with it. I suspect mass shootings have their roots in mental illness, drug use, and obsessive behavior surrounding violent video games. Note: I didn't say well adjusted people and video games.
