Based on your training experiences, which drills would you forego with a SA revolver?

I'd probably skip tap-rack-bang, anyway.

Like the OP I too enjoy carrying a SA (Ruger Bisley in 44 Mag or 44 Special) for SD but I restrict the practice to when I'm in rural or backwoods areas. I often carry a DA revolver or SA pistol in backwoods as well but for urban SD situations I always switch to a compact DA revolver because it's easier to conceal. I may be wrong on this but I feel that I'm much easier to surprise in an urban setting than in the backwoods and that SD encounters in urban environments are much more unexpected and require faster reactions, followup shots and reloading.

It is not easy to find professional instruction on single action revolvers for self defense, but it does exist. I have not been able to work such a class into my schedule, but still hope to.

Gunsite does offer such a class, and one of their instructors has put together a video series on the topic, available on Youtube.

I used to carry a single-action revolver when bicycling the Los Angeles River.
Of course, that was the only gun that I had... .

Once at the range I told a G 19 shooter that I could get off 6 accurate shots with my Colt 1860 Army Cap & Ball then he could with his semi auto.
(He was pretty bad with it so I felt safe)
Anyway I got 6 hits at 5 yards before he got off shot 3 rounds.

I carry a SA Bearcat daily when on my property. I plink and conduct impromptu drills often. I can bounce a pine cone 4-5 times out of six shots with it.
It carries easily, is easily concealed with an untucked shirt or jacket, and I don't mind shooting it often with rather inexpensive ammo. Yes, I've carried it to town, but will normally switch to a semi 9mm and drop an extra mag in my pocket if I'm going to be in an "urban" setting.
I carry the Bearcat because it's not in my way while on the tractor, 4-wheeler, etc.

Forgot to mention my Bearcat usually has the .22 WMR cylinder installed.

See that’s kinda where I’m at. Mostly I carry round the homestead and only go to town for groceries and to deliver to the shop. So Im not in town every day. Aside from the fact I just prefer single actions.
