I'm needing a deep concealment holster and am thinking of trying one of these are they rigid enough to cover the trigger? The guns that will be carried are s&w 640 .357 and a Beretta 9000S. Does anyone here have any experience with this holster/carry method?

As safe as you make it. I just don't like the accessibility aspect of it. For light triggered guns without safetys, "which most of mine are" I don't trust it. If you interact with others like kids and dogs, it's too risky for my taste. If you have a SA/DA trigger with a safety, it should be ok, but getting down there is just weird to me. It is not for those who are in a hurry and need their gun fast. And pocket carry is much more useful because you can have your hand on the gun, while waiting to define if there is a threat or not.

I use one a lot. I have carried J frames and K frames without a problem. What I carry most is a Glock 26 or 19. I was a little hesitant to begin with. I say buy one insert unloaded gun and try to pull the trigger. I'm not saying you cant but I will say I have carried this way in all sorts of activities and never had a problem.

Um, I personally would not carry my pistol that way.

Sure, I'm sure lots of folks do but I just can't feel good about having a loaded gun's muzzle pointed at the boys. I would like to hear from someone who uses the Smartcarry holster with a Glock or better yet - XDm with one in the pipe.

I like their double holster that lets me carry two pistols, both pointed at my genitals.
That way, I can blow off BOTH of my gonads while trying to look like Chow Yun Fat in Hard Boiled.

I'm not comfortable with weapons pointed at my "equipment".
Plus, I don't want the muzzles digging into my pelvis while seated.

Back when I had a Beretta 9000s, I carried it in a Thunderwear holster, which was the original. It carried fine, especially if your pants are just a little loose. You're not going to shoot your nuts off.

Btw, ignore the comments from those that never tried or had one.

When properly worn, your gun does neither.

Ive carried everything from one of my Seecamps, up to a SIG P239 in one. These days, its a Glock 26 with a 17 reload.

Ive found that the Smart Carry holsters are one of my favorite and most versatile holsters, and I wont ever be without one. I have a couple and have used one daily for about 8 years now.

Most of my pants (mostly Carhartts and Dickies carpenter type) wont allow pocket carry, and even if I were to carry a small gun in my pocket, I can still get to the gun in my Smart Carry quicker, and easier, even when seated. Theres no way that pistol in my pocket is coming out without a lot of gyrations and struggle. I have enough trouble just getting my keys out of my pocket.

If you havent tried one, you really should pick one up and give it a try. Youre missing out on one of the best holsters going.

Just fine.

The gun resides ontop "the boys" rather than pointed at.

I've owned both thunder wear and smart carry and ill take Smart carry every time.

Ideal non permissive environment carry.

Anyone that has actually owned one knows that they don't point at your stuff. I love thunder wear for those places that concealment is priority one.

This. I nomally carry Appendix IWB for my Smith and Wesson 3913, but I have a SmartCarry that I use sometimes for my 38 snubbie. The original reason I bought it was because I worked somewhere that disallowed carry, but was located somewhere I realllllly wanted to carry. Ergo, I needed something more discreet than the belt holster or even pocket holster, due to dress code. The smart carry fit the bill nicely. It's basically invisible, and fairly comfortable under dress pants. I've never tried it in jeans.

These days, I mostly use it for walking the dogs late at night when I don't feel like putting anything heavier than gym shorts on. It's quick, comfortable and easily concealed.

Personally, it's not my favorite choice for daily carry, but it fits into a certain niche very nicely. It definitely does NOT leave anything pointed at your junk. The muzzle sits below the junk level, and it's in front of the junk, not above it.

As for the XDm comments, I'd happily carry one there. It has a grip safety, and I'm practiced in putting my thumb on the rear of the slide/hammer when I reholster, which releases the grip safety and renders it safe.

Don't knock it til you try it. They're cheap, go buy one and see what you think.

I have carried several different Glock models and a S&W 6906 in one. I never felt it was susceptible to an accidental discharge. That being said, it wasn't especially comfortable, and it significantly increased sweat in the region.

After trying it while working in the Texas heat, I went back to traditional IWB holster and relegated the smart carry to use while jogging. The only time I have had to draw a pistol in an actual self defense scenario, it was from a smart carry with a S&W 6906. It worked.

I have a small SmartCarry holster. Contrary to popular opinion, as mentioned, they do not point at your genitals. I was hoping to use it when trail running, as it would flop around less than a fanny pack. Unfortunately, some of the Velcro edges aren't padded, so it is not as comfortable as I was hoping against bare skin (I wanted to wear it under a pair of gym shorts and a polyester wicking t-shirt).

Additionally my extra pounds are sitting mostly in front, so I found it to be uncomfortable in most seated positions as well.

100% this. And you can tell who they are, especially if you have actually used one.

I've had a Smartcarry since about 2006. I use it for a Glock 26 or a S&W 642, for when I'm wearing sweatpants or gym shorts or similar, and sometimes for really deep concealment when I absolutely don't want any printing or tells.

For what it is intended for it works perfectly.

(by volume I mostly used it when I used to go running around outside for exercise a lot)
