I have a Model 66-2 square butt, and I replaced the factory wood grips with Hogue rubber grips for square butts. (Hogue Model 10000)
I am considering buying a new model 66, such as the 66-8, which has the round butt. I would then replace the factory grips with Hogue rubber grips for round butts. (Hogue Model 19000)
My question: Will my "length of pull" (for my trigger finger) be different on the 66-8 vs. the 66-2, since the butt sizes are different, even though the Hogue grips are basically the same size?
PS - I know the 66-8 comes with a rubber grip, but I have tried it, and I prefer the Hogue.
Thanks

I cant answer your question exactly, except that a round butt grip will feel different in the hand than a square butt. The good news is that Hogue makes round to square conversion grips, #19002, that will give your new model 66 the same feel as your old 66.

If you're putting round-to-square conversion grips on, the only difference will be a very slight balance change due to the extra steel on the square butt.

I agree, the current factory clamshell grips are horrendous. I know very few who likes them.

The 19000 is not round to square, that's the 19002. 19000 is round. I shoot the square butt a little better. When I first started shooting a K frame with a round butt, I shot the square butt MUCH better. Round conceals and carries better, but it did not shoot the same for me, and it took some work to get me comfortable shooting a round butt. The square butt gun seemed to just shrink my groups. REALLY like a 3" RB 65, but it took some work to shoot it well, where a SB K frame made me look like I was a good shot without trying too hard.
