So you’ve got to look at your entire gun collection and choose just one, for concealed carry, home defense, etc. Which would you choose? I was faced with this situation little while back and have had only 1 gun in my possession for the past 2 weeks or so. You see, we had a house guest who has a history of drug abuse and is trying to get clean. My wife is reaching out to this guy, who is related to her coincidentally, however knowing the history and tendencies of guys addicted to this particular substance, we decided it would be best to remove anything that can be readily sold to buy drugs or used as a weapon in a criminal enterprise etc.
So there I was, I could only have whatever I could keep on my person, so all long guns were out. Now we had it narrowed to the following list:
1.) Sig 229 in .40S&W…..nice, use one as a duty weapon left at work…but heavy for all day carry every day.
2.) Sig 228 in 9mm. I have 2 of these beauties but only 10 round Sig mags and a few 13 round Pro Mags, which I don’t trust in a defensive weapon. So this one is out.
3.) Sig 225. Not that many rounds in the well, but flat reliable, dead accurate, light in weight and narrow. This was my pick.
So here I find myself with a 9 or 10 shot pistol in a 9mm caliber chosen for reliability, accuracy and ease of carry. So I guess I’ve made a discovery about myself because of this situation….and that is if I am to carry a gun all day in all kinds of situations those three reasons are paramount in my considerations. What about you? If you could only choose one, which would it be and why? Remember you have to carry it on you 24/7.
