Sister left for work about four hours before, i had just gotten up to mow the lawn and water before it got too hot. I'm checking up on another forum real quick when i hear the floor creak in the other room. Now normally i wouldnt think anything of it, this house makes a lot of noises, but this was just too close to sounding like someone walking. I decide better safe then sorry, stand up, turn around, and take my p32 out of my pocket. I go to a half-assed low ready and move the 2 feet to the entrance to the living room. I look left towards the fireplace, patio door. Nothing. No more then 1 second after though i see movement in my peripheral vision off to the right. Head snaps that way. Theres a body in the doorway to the front hall. :what: Its my sisters boyfriend. :uhoh: 'Oh ????' i think and casually/quickly move my hand to my leg and go back in the computer room.

I dont know if he saw anything, he just said whats up, some other stuff, and left. I dont think he'd be too freaked out, we're friends and he knows we're/i'm a little gun nutty. Anyway, i figure i have 50/50 odds of my sister complaining about me almost shooting her man.

What do you think? I dont think i did anything wrong, it just freaked me out cause it was totally not what i expected. I expected to just put it back in my pocket a couple seconds later and go back to the computer. I dont think a burglar would have surprised me as much. :scrutiny:

I think you acted in a reasonable way to an unexpected threat (or potential threat). You might suggest to your sister that she let you know somehow if she is hosting a "sleep-over", particularly if someone will still be there after she leaves.

*shrug* Sounds like you did okay. You detected something out of the ordinary, decided it was likely enough to be a threat to bring a weapon, investigated and ratcheted things down when you realized that things were copacetic.

Yeah, instincts were right about the noise. Its not like he stays over all the time either, think this is the first time. I had no idea. I just figured it was like every other day of the summer, house is usually totally empty.

I would have done the same. The other night the mrs and I were in bed and suddenly and distinctly hear something drop in the kitchen of our little apartment. I did the same thing as you (sans clothes - sorry you didn't need that info) but found nothing - musta just been some of our stuff decided to fall over. I didn't expect to find anything but it felt good to have my .40 if I had.

You did great for the situation at hand. And yes, have a SERIOUS chat with Sissy about letting you know if someone is staying over. See below...

Nearly plugged Sis-in-law's former boyfriend a couple of years back...

She had come up to visit us for the weekend, didn't tell us that (now former) bf was staying over with her in our guest room. [he had left, but she called him on cel-fone and had him come back, she opened her window to let him in]. I was awakened by floor creaking and sound of fridge opening. Grabbed the KP-90 Ruger and multicell Mag lite and snuck that way. When fridge light came on again, I can see outline of a really hairy guy, bigger than me, putting something back in fridge:what:

Shoulda seen his face when I lit him up with Maglite, and all he could see was that large metallic object in my hand, with the .451 hole in the end.

///// tongue-in-cheek mode know installed

Ya know, maybe I should have warned him of the consequences of chugging Orange Juice straight from the carton when the glasses are in cabinet next to fridge....

:neener:

Those of you who have shared your experiences show just how a reasonable person, under stress, can apply judgement in the use of force. You give the lie to the anti's, who claimed that "blood would run in the streets" with shall issue laws.
Bravo to you!
