I shot in the Ironman last week. There was one stage shot from a zipline.

And here is camera phone video from Atomicferret in a zipline eye view:

You needed two on each of those. Believe it or not, one guy on my squad got all but one, and he managed to get one round into it.

Other than that we shot from a moving truck, while driving a golf cart, from a twenty foot tower, from a chain box, and from a bouncy thing that was supposed to be like a boat, carried a dummy, smashed a door open with a battering ram, and other assorted things. Most of us ended up shooting between 1,500-2,000 rounds between shotgun, pistol, and rifle. Targets were from conversational distance to 600 meters.

I broke two guns, cut myself twice, bled all over my guns, got dehydrated, and sunburned, and it was the most fun I've ever had in a match in my life.

LOL. MGM Ironman is at my home range. I am SOOO bummed I missed it. Something came up so wasn't able to go. Was just going to spectate this year anyways.

You needed to shoot two into each target. You swing about half way back and can keep shooting as long as you want. You're usually better off just stopping after you zip through once and take the misses.

Some guys, (the hardcore sponsored winner types) took a 60 second penalty, and ran the stage, instead of going down the zip line.

I haven't gotten the scores yet. They had some problems with the software. I did pretty horrible though. Lots of problems. Lots of screwups. But still the most fun I've ever had in a match.

That is the coolest thing I've seen all week!
If only they'd put this sort of competition on MTV for the younger crowd and on ESPN for the 20+ crowd, shooting sports would be the new 'Xtreme sport' and we wouldn't have to worry too much about fighting for 2A rights for a long time. I mean who wouldn't want to slide down a zipline while shooting badguys:D:cool:

I think witnessing a "perfect score" in that one would be one of the most impressive things I can imagine! Truly getting into James Bond territory here. Heck I can't even get perfect scores in the video game equivalents!

I . . . cut myself twice, bled all over my guns

Is this a common thing for you?

Inside joke. Henry was with me at SHOT show one year when I cut myself on one of his client's knives and lost about a quart all over the Vegas convention center carpet.

I had a blown primer cup lock up the trigger on my AR. My Saiga 12 trigger quit resetting, and I haven't had a chance to diagnose that yet.

Thing is, they did it on the same stage. And since this is the Ironman, you don't punk out and quit, you yell at somebody else on your squad to toss you a gun so you can keep shooting.

I got the scores back today. I sucked. :p Will do better next year.

Correia, I cut myself while using a knife to punch out the pins of an M-16 one day. I was at an ROTC event, and showing two girls how to take down an M-16.

Talk about embarrassed. The cut itself didn't hurt, but my pride sure was.

They will be taking deposits for next years match shortly. It is $250 to shoot, but that is for 3 days of shooting, and most of us got a pretty decent value in prizes.

Hey Larry, is that your voice I hear in the background on the first YouTube video?

That looks like fun beyond words. I can't believe I've never heard of that event before. Maybe one of these days I'll actually try my hand at 3-gun...

Wes

Wes, I just listened with the sound turned up. That is me at the beginning. I was just standing in the background telling a story to some guys. I didn't even know I was on it.

Wow.

Scary. The guy behind me in line at air assault school claimed I was shaking every time I went over the side of the tower...'Course, maybe being able to concentrate on a weapon would make it less frightening...
