How is it that all the ammo is going to GB when even Midway can't get any? It just seems to me like suppliers have figured out they can make a lot more when they force us all to bid against each other instead of letting this stuff get to store shelves. Someone say it isn't so!

It is not. GB is private sellers that buy up the ammo from sellers like Midway and LGS and resell on GB. No ammo manufacturers or distributors sell through GB.

The end.

It isn't so.

The ammo on Gun Broker is the same ammo the hoarders and speculators clean off the shelves at Wal-Mart before they get done stocking the shelves in the middle of the night.

No ammo manufacture has the staff or inclination to cut out all their distributors from the food chain and sell ammo at retail+ on Gun Broker.

They will need the distributors again when the craziness dies down in the next few months.

Not all sellers on gb are private. This is mostly hoarded ammo then? Midway doesn't say sold out it says unavailable. Where are the 900000 rounds per day hornady is turning out. Are you saying midway can't get any. Something is not adding up.

900000 rounds ÷ 50 states ÷ 100 shops= 180 rounds per shop....

Sent from my CZ85 Combat

I've seen a fair bit of 270WSM, 338WM and 30-30 at my local store. What's missing is .22LR and most all handgun ammo.

Ok but my shop can't get theirs, so that means your shop should have 360 but they can't get any ..... And oh by the way its all for auction. All I am saying is there seems to be one outlet for ammo. (223 22lr.)

It seems like one outlet because everyone buys up all the ammo they can pay retail for. You see ammo on Gunbroker because it's at a price that people won't pay, so it's still there.

Maybe because your store turns around and lists it for auction on GB where he can get a better price than sitting on his shelf? Sellers market. It will take months for supplies to catch up with demand.

A lot of the ammo on Gun Broker does go to the store shelves. But the people who buy it off the store shelves turn around and sell it on GB, often enough.

Why? Because the stores don't charge market price. They charge too little, given the current market conditions.

Also, and this applies to guns and mags too, I think a LOT of "good buy" local gun stores are pretending to be sold out of stuff while actually listing it on Gun Broker...without telling their local customers. GB account may not even be in their name. Some go out of their way to hide their GB identity. They are having their cake and eating it too.

I believe you guys ... I hope this never happens with bread in this country.
Maybe I need to start a site called bread broker.

Look at Zimbabwe for what happens when you ration food sales and limit prices. Empty shelves. Same here.

I tell you ammo distribution is almost as bad as gun distribution in the USA. Ammo just isn't making it over here. Where is it ending up?? :D You guys stop buying for a couple days.

I bought a box of 9mm at Walmart yesterday.

It was only 12.XX per 50 for price. They were just rolling it in off the truck, not on the shelves yet.

Things will get better as long as there is an elastic response to the gougers.

It's the buyers doing this. Not the "gougers". Rationing and price controls cannot fill the demand = empty shelves. Blame the panic buyers.

Some of the guys on Gunbroker are the same guys who cleaned out Walmart. It's almost like a self-perpetuating crisis.

You know, if nobody buys any ammo for 2-3 months, I'll bet the crisis disappears. In the end, its not those guys on gunbroker perpetuating this crisis.

Why does it have to be somebody's fault that we can point a finger at and blame?

And if you want to point fingers, point them at the politicians driving everything up with their attempts at Constitutional infringement

nobody that is selling on GB is going through the normal channels to obtain their ammo, they bought as much as possible at their LGS, wiped the shelves and are now auctioning it off to make a killing.

So who here has actually bought ammo from GB at those crazy prices? The sellers are free to ask those prices. They WILL slow down if there are no takers, you can take my word on this.

Ammo supply is catching up with demand already. I can now find 9mm in most LGS as well as 380 and 45. It is higher than pre-panic but I think we are beyond the panic now. New gunowners have to buy ammo for new guns. I see 7.62 in most stores now. .223 and .22LR are the major types that seem to be in highest demand and are still difficult to find. I wonder how many rounds of .22lr are fired every year in the USA just for plinking? It is the one ammo that I never expected to be in short supply so don't listen to my advice.
I am also starting to see AR pattern rifles sit on the shelves now. I was in two LGS in GA on Wednesday and both had multiple riflles in different calibers. The S$W .22s were around $519 which is only $20 or so higher than pre-panic but the .223s were still high. DPMS 223 for $1099.
