Bangsite (used in Bangsite cannons) is calcium carbide, so maybe check a local hobby store. Or check Amazon or eBay for carbide or Bangsite.

I used the spray can back in the 70/80's. When others next to me on the line seen it being used. I got " Can i borrow some?" Sure , i sell them for $x.xx Here it is.:D

If the carbon builds up more on one side of the front sight, it can move zero out of the X ring at 50 yards. And maybe a little low.

Today, most use an Aimpoint type dot.

I saw somebody use a disposable carbide lighter that was made for smokino sights.

Looked much easier than my old rchargable unit.

I got a one pound can at the local army surplus store, it should last about 30 years. I use an old pellet tin to store some in my shooting box, a wrap of electrical tape keep sit sealed and moisture free. If you clean your sights occasionally, the build up does not effect your shooting.
