Southern AZ Shoot and Clean Up

I think the show closes at 5 PM, so you should have time to make it Lennyjoe.

cidirkona, just make sure to treat her nice afterwards if she really doesn't want to go, she doesn't have to. Tell her you will take her to the Melting Pot or somewhere after we shoot on Sunday!

That place was pretty good, kinda pricey though, about 4 magazines worth of money went away!

As much as I can be, I'm there. I didn't realize it was a Sunday thing, that'll make it easier to be there. I kept thinking it was a Saturday deal for some reason. Unfortunately, my church is up at Oracle and Magee... I'll be using A LOT of gas that day... ha

What time are we shooting for to start? The less sun, the easier it is to bend over and pick trash up! I'll probably get out there pretty early anyways just to get started.

I was figuring 6-7AM would be a good time to get started. That way we should be done before noon and can make use of the relative coolness of the early morning.

After we're done cleaning and shooting, you are welcome to come back to my place. I'll fire up the grill, and we can have a well deserved meal and some beer (or whatever). Please note, this will be a potluck style feeding and watering. I can pull out a few extra burgers, but I can't afford to feed the lot of you. Potent potables are also BYO.

So wait... is the gunshow thing Saturday at noon and shooting/cleaning early Sunday morning? ...the folding stock I ordered for my SKS better be here soon, although it's understandable if they're busy. I ordered it Friday morning and they haven't even processed the order yet!

Colin, Ayuup.

Old Partner - Head east on Sahuarita Road and then turn left (north) onto Wentworth. Between Andrada and I-10 there will be a turn off to the west. Coming from that direction it is a little hard to spot, but if you get to the big wood ulitity poles, you've gone too far. Could someone get a sign out there (before we get started this time) to mark the turn off? There's no chance of me having that kind of time. I'm going to be working a lot this week, and then Friday and Saturday I'll be scouting for deer (would be scouting Sunday too, but since I was the one with this bright idea I figured I better show up). Colin, could you at least post your map from the original Tucson THR shoot here, with the necessary correction?

The map I have is about 60 feet off... but is close enough. There is a yellow diamond sign with a picture of a cow on it on the west (southbound) side of the road about 30 feet south of the turnoff.

The sign I drew on the map was on the wrong side of the turnoff. You might wanna have your earplugs in by the time you get out of your car too. :)

Family stuff. I am sad.

Hope you can make the next one! Family stuff, can't be solved by bringing them all out to enjoy a day outdoors? :)

This is the weekend forecast for Sunday "Mostly sunny and windy. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 60s." Hopefully it is not too windy. :uhoh:

I'll try and get out there with a box sign of some sort of someone doesn't beat me to it.

So wait... is the gunshow thing Saturday at noon and shooting/cleaning early Sunday morning?

Yup.

UltimateArms on ebay, otherwise known as First Distributing, took their time with my folding stock for my sks. I bid on and paid for it early Friday morning. It wasn't shipped until late Monday afternoon -- which will make it get here the day after our desert shoot.

Somebody's not getting positive feedback... :uhoh: :scrutiny: :banghead: :cuss: :fire:

Actually, that is almost a solution. Unfortunately the location you guys are going to is just too far away to have it work out. Oh well, hope you guys have fun!

Uhh, Colin, hate to say this but that's only about 1 business day between payment and shipping. That's pretty standard (maybe even on the quick side) and about what you should expect unless they specifically tell you otherwise. If they said it would ship the same day as payment was recieved, then you have grounds for negative feedback, but even still, a 1 business day delay is nothing. At worst I'd give them neutral feedback.

wasrjoe - Sorry you can't make it. Hopefully next time.

Two days and a weekend. I paid for it before the business day started, so it was about 8am in Brooklyn, NY on Friday morning. Saturday and Sunday passed and it wasn't shipped until 7:44pm Monday. I think that's too much time personally... Not only that, but I didn't get an email reply or anything from them, and I sent one right away early Friday morning.

-- AND alot of their feedback says "Fast shipping" or "shipped immediately, thanks!"

Then again, it was also Sunset weekend... I need to get a flash suppressor and a grenade launcher now too just to laugh in the face of the AWB... haha j/k That bayo lug is staying right where it's at!

They probably didn't ship it until Monday because they wanted to make sure the ban had officially sunsetted. Probably a CYA thing, and if somehow the Wicked Witch of the West had pulled out a renewal in time by some cosmic miracle you'd have in been deep do-do if they had shipped right away. Regardless, your payment might have been send before they opened on Friday, but as far as they're concerned, they got that payment on Friday, not before. And, as I said before it really was just 1 business day (weekends don't count) until it shipped. Monday evening is still Monday (they probably only get packages picked up by FedEx, UPS, etc in the afternoon so sending it Monday morning was likely not possible). Chances are they probably handed off the package a lot earlier than 7:44PM, and that was just the time it got entered into the tracking system. Besides as busy as they likely were I'd have been surprised if they had gotten in out that Friday even without the legal aspects of sunsetting. As I said before, unless they made some promise of same day (Friday) shipment, it would really be inappropriate to give negative feedback. Neutral I could see, though I think that even that might be a touch harsh. If I were you I would leave no feedback at all.

Anyhow, your SKS will still be plenty of fun to shoot with the non-folding stock. Be grateful you're getting the stock. I can't really afford an AW at all right now, let alone accessories that are now legal again.

See y'all bright and early on Sunday! As it turns out, I'll be out in the wilds of 30B trying to figure out where the hell the mule deer are while the rest of you get to enjoy the gun show. I was going to go out there the following weekend, but my hunting partner has to go to RI on a business trip.

I wouldn't give them negative feedback unless they sold me something other than what they advertised and wouldn't take it back. I'm not impressed with their service as of yet, so positive seems a bit out of touch at the moment, but we'll see. As stands, neutral. The shipping order wasn't received until 5:51pm EST on Monday. At least it got mailed out Monday instead of sitting at their shop for another day.

It wasn't sold as a folding stock, it was sold as an 'ultralight' stock that comes with the free conversion peice to make it fold, so it was (and still is) completely legit... (as long as I would have taken the bayo lug off if I used detatchable mags). Thank God that AWB is dead -- sure was annoying to work around. hahah

I dont land at TIA till 1:30 so I wont make the noon meeting. I plan on collecting baggage, payin for parking and beating feet to the show. Hopefully I wont get delayed.

See ya all Sunday morning bright and early.

If any you that can go to the show are able to find some inexpensive .40S&W and .38 Spl ($16-18/100), and some cheap 6.5x55 and 8x57 (under $8/20) I will pay you back for them Sunday morning. Otherwise, if any of you are reloaders I'd be happy to do some kind of trade or payment for ammo (if it is legal to do so). I have a bunch (close to 100, maybe more) of once fired 6.5x55 brass (Remington, and mixed Ingman, S&B, and PMC). Don't have much in the way of brass for the others though :( . I do have maybe 80-100 pieces of once fired .38.

Man, I need to start reloading myself!

Edit to add - I have no interest in corrosive 8x57. I have more than I need already of that stuff, and since I don't always get a chance to clean my guns really throughly afterwards, I don't want to take the risk.

Considering the minimum quantity required, it's a bit more than I want to spend. I was looking more for about 100-250 rounds of .40, not 500+. Plus, with shipping involved, I doubt it would get here in time. Appreciate the suggestion though.

If anybody does pick some ammo up for me, my Ruger .40 definatly prefers the 155-165 grain bullets. For the .38, standard pressure only, no +P and preferably 125 grain or lighter, though 158gr is OK. For the rifles, so long as it's non-corrosive and cheap it will work just fine. I think last time WkW bought some Olympic 8mm that had some quality problems (multiple strikes required to fire every round), so if anybody sees that ammo, don't get any more than 1 box, just in case it's from the same lot. Other ammo, including Turk surplus, and handloads have fired without problems, so it definatly was that ammo.
