Some turmoil surrounding the world of 50bmg AR15 conversions. This isn't really anything new, however, with bohica shutting its doors and opening up a new operation (yet refusing to work on bohica products) has left a lot of customers looking for an alternative.

There were statements made on my forum to the tune of all 50BMG conversions being unsafe. David @ spider firearms took exception to that, and I'm glad he did. He sent me a unit for some testing in regard to the rifle's unique design which cannot allow it to fire out of battery.

As two or more bohica users were badly injured as a result of them firing out of battery, it is foremost on 50bmg conversion users minds. This video should answer that question in regard to whether the Ferret 50 from Spider Firearms is safe.

We fire a live round without the bolt being completely closed. Needless to say, I was hiding behind a large tree when I pulled the string on this 18" 50BMG!
