Springfield 2020 rimfire

The wood gun looks fantastic, unlike Ruger’s wooden American Rimfire (hideous).

I won’t be their beta tester but if reports are good and the rifle proves worthy Springfield might get a sale for a new squirrel rifle from me.

The MSRP seems awfully low. Curious of the country of origin.
I have a 10-22 Sporter that has beautiful wood .

I am a self-admitted .22 LR rifle freak. These look great to me and I will definitely give one a try.

I would love to see one in .22 mag at some point. Using the 10/22 magazine and hopefully the 77/22 Mag magazine is a huge plus for me.

This looks like a great rifle for some high county hiking/varmint/deer season warm up shooting.

I will be checking the local gun store racks for one of these.

Over on the forearm blog comments one of the guys says it's made by retay in turkey. No idea if he's right.

I have a CZ 455 I kind of want to upgrade out of. I'm not sure I will get anything better, but I kind of want to try.

I just saw a pre-release review on YouTube and the barrel is made in Turkey. The trigger shoe is plastic and it didn't shoot very well with the ammo he was using. To be honest, he wasn't following the directions given by Springfield Armory that it must be match ammo with a "qualified shooter" (whatever that means) for the guarantee, but an inch at 50 yards is actually pretty pathetic...especially since CZ 457s exist for around the same price and FAR outshoot that guarantee. I wouldn't even glance at this rifle without exhausting the possibility of a CZ 457 first.

I'm not impressed with their 1 inch or less at 50 yards accuracy guarantee.
You also left out "with quality match grade factory ammo and a skilled shooter" as stated on their website. Most of us shoot cci so if we don't shoot sub-moa they can say cci is not match ammo. Then there is also the other caveat, which is the skilled shooter. So nothing can really be blamed on the rifle. Just saw a video on you tube on this rifle and it shot pretty bad, but it is not the rifle's fault as he was not using match grade ammo and no way for me to confirm his skills in shooting.

The review video I can across shows multiple rounds shooting under 1 inch at 50 yards. Including I believe 2 CCI loads.

Invested in a couple of Ruger RAR compact .22 LR's, and have to say they are outstanding for the money.

This is one, though advertised as the rifle length, because the guy is pretty small.

Have the Tech-Sights aperture sights as well, though drilled out to 3/32," so they match the M1 rifle (relative) aperture.

And while the stock is cheap, it is still pillar block bedded, and a precise, compact rifle.

Like the look of the new SA .22 LR with the wood stock, though.

Looks pretty nice. I like the 10/22 mag and the 700 trigger. Threaded bolt handle is cool. I think the barrel is threaded, not sure.
Higher grade wood options is also a nice option to have.

However, I just don't trust Springfield much anymore. At the very least, I'll wait a while to see how they run.

I have to say this is one of the more interesting 22LR I have seen in awhile. The fact that it takes 10/22 magazines and uses Rem 700 pattern triggers is pretty awesome. If the barrel changes as easily as a 10/22 barrel this could be a hit. That would make it very modular for modification and tuning.

With CZ 457s around, not sure Id gamble on the Springfield.

Like my .22 mag.

May get another in .22lr if I don't find an Anschutz.
My 457 Pro Varmint is stupid accurate with cheap junk 22lr lol. And it's stupid quiet with my SilencerCo Sparrow suppressor. The only issue is the dumb dovetail mounts...

Funny enough, I've gotten pretty decent groups with CCI SV out of my CZ 457 Pro Varmint... I need to measure my groups next time I shoot it.

That is one thing that I don’t like about such a nice rifle as the CZ is it’s not drilled and tapped for a scope . I have a 452 American . I figured they would have drilled and taped one of the newer models of it by now .
