I have a Marlin 336 (micro-grove rifling) which may have nothing to do with the question. I am wondering since most 30-30 factory loads are either 150 grains or 170 grains if the 30-30 will stabilize a 125 grain as well. I have loaded all of them and the 125 Sierra is devastating but I wonder if it may not be quite as accurate due to twist rate. I think the 30-30 has a 1:12 twist. I have also heard that weight has nothing to do with twist rate. That it is the length of barrel, the length of bullet and the velocity.
But my understanding in blackpowder circles is the heavier a bullet requires a faster rate of twist. So I am wondering that maybe a 1:10 would be really more accurate in a 30-30 with a 125 grainer. Sounds maybe I answered my own question but Sierra probably would not offer the bullet if it were not appropriate. Anyone have any experience here?

Yes. A fast twist is no disadvantage with lighter bullets (unless it is so fast it tears them apart.) A slow twist, on the other hand, is a disadvantage with heavier bullets.

With very rare exceptions, if a rifle will shoot a bullet of one weight well, it will also shoot lighter bullets well.
