Does anyone have any experiance with this brand/model? I have heard good things about Stag for the most part, but the price of the model 3 compared to other guns with similar features seems almost to good to be true.

this is the one I was looking at, but I'm cautious about the price of it...most of the ones I have been comparing are around the $1200 range, and of course some have other features, but this to be a no frills simple AR-15 in 5.56 with no sights (perfect for the leupold scope I have in mind)

Personally I'd be looking at a carbine from PSA instead. They are closer to "mil-spec" and if you decide to get one of their rifle kits and build the lower yourself (a very easy project that can be done with basic tools), it's easy to end up close to the $600 mark for a complete high-quality carbine.

I own a Stag Model 3 and am quite satisfied with it. When I first got it I would have a failure to extract with Wolf ammo ever so often. I fixed that with replacing the buffer with a "H" and put a extractor upgrade into it. Now it will shoot anything that I feed it with no problems. I have since made some other mods to it like a Troy four rail drop in forearm, a Ergo grip, and various other things to make it more of a personal weapon. When feeding it with good ammo and having a high power scope I get 1"-1 1/2" 5 shot groups at 100 yards

I run a bare bones Model 2L. Not a single feature added to it, and it runs like a champ. Any ammo, any magazine. It chugs along reliably and accurately. I really, really love this rifle. Plus, it was a gift from my dad, so it's pretty special in that way too.

No complaints from me at all. I plan on getting a RH upper at some point so that my gun is a little more "normal" should I really get into trying to wear it out as left hand parts aren't all that common.

can you post a picture with the mods on it?

I own a Stag Model 3L and I LOVE it. After 800-1000rds its not had a single misfire misfeed jam anything. I shot it last Saturday and at 50 yds I put 10 rounds in the 9 and 10 ring with a Holographic sight no magnification. At 100yds I hit clay targets and soda cans like its going out of style. Buy it you won't regret it.

I have had a model 6 for two years now, and have not had any problems. Its one of my favorite AR's, and it consistently shoots some of my smallest groups. I recommend it.

I've had one for a couple of months now. I haven't had time to fire it extensively, but so far it's been fine. Reliable and accuracy is good.

I bought one for my son's 16th birthday a couple of years ago. It has worked flawlessly since I got it. The one single thing I'm bummed about is I got it on sale at 999$ just before AR prices started dropping through the floor back in 2011.

Stag is decent stuff.

I'd pick a Model 2. Then chop the front sight and install a Larue 13.2" rail. Or just order a Stag complete lower only. And pick up a BCM upper online. I don't buy complete rifles anymore. Easier to just build the lower my way and slap any upper I want on.
