Couple weeks ago I did some trading for a couple new leverguns. A Rossi R95 was in stock but the R92 had to be ordered. When I was there I looked a couple Standard 1911's. One in full blue, the other completely color cased. I realized they had a really nice combination of traditional and modern features. I think the full color case model is a bit much and really the wrong platform for that sort of finish but was totally enamored of the blued one, so when I went by yesterday to pick up the Rossi I traded a Colt Gov't model from several years ago for the Standard. They are really nice guns for the money and come with decent checkered walnut grips but I had this set of ivories just waiting for such an opportunity. I had originally gotten them for my Springfield Range Officer but did not want to modify them for the extended safety. Since they're cut for a magwell and I had to clearance them for the Standard's extended safety anyway, I'm going to get some stags for the Standard and put the ivory on my Springfield. It was sunny today so the pics don't do it justice.

The bluing on the Standard Manufacturing CO 1911s and the SAAs is probably the best factory blue now. They are well polished and finished. It really makes the blue pop. Very nice 1911.

Nice. I am a bit jealous.

I find colored case finishes on 1911's to be weird. Receivers on lever actions and frames on 1883 Colts and clones are good though.
Same here. It was a beautifully finished pistol and only $200 more than the blued model but everything was case colored. The slide, the frame, the grip safety, even the mainspring housing. I do really like some of the S&W DA's that they did in their Heritage line, like the model 24 but I just don't think a 1911 is the place for it.

Nice gun but that finish looks wrong on it to my eyes. Not my gun so no real complaint. Curmudgeon me does't like ceracoat on anything.

Cerakote???

OK, I misspelled it. Can't help that I'm getting old and forgetful. :( I am still trying to remember the name of a popular in the past Australian actor that we wasted some time trying to watch in a dull and boring movie last night and it still alludes me. By the way he has gotten old and fat too.

Youse guys talking about Ceracoat?
Anyway.
This thread has me thinking about a 1911 with case hardened frame and midnight black slide.

It wasn't that the spelling. I was wondering what was cerakoted?

I've got a terminal case of CRS. I tell my wife if I leave the house wearing pants and two matching shoes, I'm doing good. I had to edit this post five times to get it right. :p

I don't care for it on anything.

As to CRS I have a stellar case of it. I wracked my brain trying to remember the name of an actor in a movie last night and this morning and finally decided to look up a movie I knew he had starred in. Just a moment before typing in the name of the movie in the search bar his name popped into my mind. If my rear end wasn't firmly attracted there no telling where it would be found after I forgot about it. It took 3 trips to the kitchen this morning to finally take a pill. I can proof read a post 3 or 4 times and still find mistakes later.

I understand but why did it come up here?
Only because it is a finish I don't care for on anything.

doubleh --- Could that actor have been Russell Crowe ?.
Yes. I was annoyed enough to look up a movie I knew he had starred in and it popped into my mind just before I started the search. The golden years aren't all that golden when you reach them. Everything about you quits working like it did when you were young.

Ok, this got me curious.
From their own web site, the case colored (their terminology) version does look a bit daft to me

The "Damascus" version rates a "maybe" in my book (if a lot less so for eight grand)

I don't see a blue version like OP's, though. And, that is a unique color blue, and very striking.
