I have a Stoeger Condor O/U that I am having some problems with. The top barrel of the gun will only fire every now and then. Sometimes I can pull the trigger and there is a delay in the round going off.

Some people have said that I am "trigger trapping" and not letting the trigger reset since I'm holding it to the rear to long? Others have said that I may have a bent firing pin.

Need some ideas on where to begin...

Thanks,

Have you ever pulled the stock off to clean the trigger assembly?

Sounds like you may have some gunk in there.

I haven't pulled the stock off yet. Anywhere I could find a breakdown on how to do this to be safe? Once I clean in I'll try and shoot it if the rain stops. If it doesn't work then I'll call Stoeger about repairs.

Well took the trigger mechanism housing out of the stock and cleaned it out with brake cleaner and then lubed it real good. No dice.

Still only shooting the bottom barrel. Although, I did notice that once the bottom went off I can hit the back of the stock with my hand and then shoot the top barrel.... Any ideas on why this might be?

That's the inertia block which sets the second trigger, the recoil of the first shot should be doing the same thing

Can you switch which trigger fires first? try switching the order and see if it changes anything. The first round's recoil is SUPPOSED to reset the sear for the second shot after releasing the the trigger. "Trapping" the trigger comes when you forget to fully release the first trigger pull and it doesn't reset

I'll look and see if I can switch the triggers. If I can't switch the triggers what should I look at next? Should I call Stoeger and have the gun sent in for warranty repair?

I wouldn't do too much more than giving it a cleaning if it is still under warranty, otherwise you might void it. Definitely give them a call and see how they want to handle it - they may send you a prepaid shipping label

Spoke to the tech people at Stoeger yesterday. He told me to ensure that I had the gun firmly placed into my shoulder to allow minimal kick from the gun. He told me that the triggers were inertia driven and they they need every bit of recoil from the shells to reset the triggers. He said if that didn't work he would be more then happy to send me a RA number and shipping label to get it sent out for readjustments on the triggers.
