While perusing a local pawn show I found a nice Winchester 9422 lever action that looks tempting. Here's the specs that I wrote down from the barrel and receiver:
Winchester 9422M XTR .22 Win Mag
SN: F3584xx
It has a very deep blue which seems unusual as I'm used to their more matte blue. There is no manual safety and it comes with a Simmons 3-9x32 scope and the hammer extension. Condition is excellent with a mirror bore. Tag says $300 with a practical price of $275.
The odd thing about it is that looking at the right side of the receiver, it has what looks like some sort of large takedown screw Kinda like the large takedown screw on the rear of older Win Model 63 rifles. Is it possible someone used one of these in place of a pin?
Any thoughts on this? I've searched for EVERY 9422 XTR picture I can find and none of them have this screw. I might be able to get a picture of it if no one can explain it. And how about the price? Searching auctions shows used ones bidding in the upper $200s.
Thanks in advance for any advice,
LL
