Looking to by another surplus military rifle under $500. I already have a Russian Mosin nagant both scoped and bare. Also already have a German Kar98k and Jap Arisaka. Any other really good military rifles out there worth buying? Would a Finnish Mosin be worth it or is my best bet saving up to about 1500 and buying a G43. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't mind a little post-WW2, I'm a big fan of the Egyptian Hakim rifles in 8mm, and they can be had for around $500.

Are you wanting to buy just for collection or is there something specific youd like it to do? I would assume that you have a nice long range/hunting setup with your nugget.

SKSs are really nice. Any older mausers are pretty awesome. In fact. Im going to link one and you might just be out a couple hundred bucks because of me :p

Free shipping as well!

Lee Enfields are easily found for around $300. Surplus ammo has come back on market for them too. Unfortunately you will find no American surplus for that price.

Here's another vote for a K31. From what you've listed, its going to be the best shooter in your collection. The Swede's, M96 and 38's, are also high quality, but I suspect might cost you a little more than $500 unless you spend a lot of time shopping or get lucky.

hakim is nice but parts are impossible to find.k31's are plentiful and reasonable.surplus ammo is available and reasonable.they are very well made and accurate.surplus adjustable micrometer sights are available as well as scopes and mounts. enfields are reasonable and collectible.prvi and hornaday make ammo,or you can make your own.

Like a bunch of the posters above, I'd say the K31, the Lee Enfield or an SKS. They are all in your price range. You can always go for a 6.5 Carcano. It is a surplus military rifle plus it was the rifle that Oswald used to kill JKF, so it's kind of a double whammy. They go for about $150. It's not the best shooter I own (in fact mine shoots like crap) but it's still a cool piece of history.

i bought a super nice enfield mk4-1 for 200.00(needed real sight) and the same for a 1941 swedish m-38 and a swedish 1913/38 barreled action for 100.00 that i had the proper oringinal replacement stock i paid 15.00 for several years ago.and a finnish m-39 for 200.00 in trade goods.

Off the top of my head,

No1mk3 Enfield
No4 Enfield
FR-8
K-31
M91 Carcano
Mas36

Thanks for all the great ideas, I am gonna go with either a k31 or lee enfield. Don't want an sks or ar or anything semi auto really. Gotta love those old bolt rifles. I am gonna scout ot Saxet tomarow and see prices

If Mausers are still an option for you the Yugo M48, M48A and 24/47 are hard to beat. They are some of the best Mausers out there.

Finn Mosin or Enfield would be excellent choices in that price range. Can't speak to the K-31.

What's nice about the K31 (using GP11 ammo) is that it is a target rifle disguised as a mil-surp. If you get a good one, you'll find out. ;)

While you are in town for the SAXET show, look at Gander Mountain just down the street. They had K-31's on the shelf a few weeks ago.
