Anyone else notice that there's a dearth of non-leather revolver holsters out there? Granted, revolver shooters tend to be a conservative, often old-fashioned bunch. Equally granted, there isn't much of a market for "tactical" or "duty" revolver holsters, especially for guns with >4" barrels. But for my own field gear, at least, a nice leather holster will look silly on an OD green web belt.
Happily, I'm quite satisfied with my Blade Tech drop & offset belt holster. The thumb break leaves a little to be desired, but Blade Tech is nice in that they make all of their holster types for nearly any gun. I have a conversion kit to turn my holster into a drop leg holster, though a 5" N-Frame in a thigh holster is pretty heavy.
The other option, if you have a K or L framed (or similar) revolver with a 4" barrel, is the Bianchi UM84R. It's basically like the GI flap holster (thumb break, shoulder, and drop conversions available), but for revolvers. Won't work on my 5" N-Frame, though.
Other than that, all there is are cheap Uncle Mike's stuff, and equally cheap stuff from the Galls catalog. I think Bianchi makes Accumold synthetic holsters for large revolvers, but I've got no experience with those.
Anybody else got a source for quality synthetic (cordura, nylon, kydex) holsters for large revolvers? I'm mainly interested in belt/field/open carry holsters, not CCW rigs. (If I want to CCW my 629 Classic, my Kramer scabbard will work just fine. )
(Yes, I know, leather is classier. But I think you get enough class points for just carrying a wheelgun that you can get away with, dare I say, more practical gear for it.)
