just saw on myfoxhouston that jeremy alcede will open up ammo manufacturing plant in Katy, TX area in 2015 with minimum 1 million rounds mader per day and 350 new jobs! hell yeah to more ammo!

I like it... hopefully they will produce good ammo in a relatively short time span. Most new ammo factories seem to struggle with QC issues when they first open for business.

That doesn't sound like particularly good news to me, unless they're going to be making .22lr. That seems to be about the only ammo with persistent shortage issues. And unless they're going to be producing additional powder, they'll be pulling on the same supply chain that gets maxed out during demand peaks. I don't see this as very likely to impact consumer experience at all, unless they're doing something innovative.

Where is he getting the money since Operation Chokepoint is supposed to be calling in his consolidation loan and shutting him down?

My "soap opera" meter is starting to peg with news articles on this operation going back and forth. Therefore I'm applying the homestate motto.

Show me.

Exactly. I'd like to know what his capitalization is. Opening a new ammunition factory doesn't sound like a good business plan, considering the severe ups and downs of demand, and the huge up-front investment required in plant and equipment. Maybe he's banking on another "panic" starting in November 2016, but what's he going to do before and after that "panic"? These press releases may be like "vaporware" -- nothing may come of them.

No way Obama will allow him to open an ammo factory, after he choked out his retail store and range, right?

facepalm...

Obama didn't do this. Haven't you guys read up on the matter? He is in default on loans. He is being sued by a business partner. The guy's business is out of whack.

Maybe he's going to run a couple 650's out of his garage..:D

Huh? Who? What?....

Who is this guy? And will he be able to maintain logistics, QC, sales, etc?
This sounds like another ExtremeShock USA/RIP/Thunder-Zap line.
I looked into starting a new ammunition line(just target/training rounds in 9x19mm, .40 & 5.56mm at first). My partners & I hit a snag buying/maintaining new brass(Star-Line) & materials.

BTW; didn't the last munitions industry lead plant in MO close down?
I thought the US shooting sports industry would go in a tailspin after that media story.

I was being facetious. I won't spend a nickel with him.

I had terrible service in his store, and after his ridiculous internet ramblings about online sales, he ruined any chance with me.

Ammo plant should be in a secured place far from populated areas. Kudos to any who will be getting into ammo production. For this is the business that will surely gain profit in less than a year.

Since he appeared on Piers Morgan and stated he believes online ammo sales shouldn't be allowed... how does he plan to sell it?

:banghead:

He should call it "Traitor Ammo".

Doe Run? Lead smelting....

I think the lead processing plant was called Doe Run or Dye Run.
It was reported that the business was being run out for political reasons but the site had various code violations & EPA/OSHA problems.

As for this US Army veteran/FFL holder, I'm still confused as to what he plans to sell & where this "magic factory" will be?
Is he against web sales?
What type of munitions does he plan to create?
The Fox news website didn't have any links or stories about this guy or his new factory.

EDIT:
I looked over a few online articles. The FFL holder/veteran behind Tactical Firearms in Katy Texas claims his remarks were edited & taken out of context. He also explained that he has no problems with online ammunition or gun sales.
It seems this guy may be on the level but it still sounds a tad odd.

So let me get this straight: A guy who started a gun store with somebody else's 3 million dollars, ran its debts through the roof, got sued by his principal investor, and has apparently been embezzling cash from that same business....now wants to start a new massive multi million dollar business? Well just sign me up as the first investor okay?

</sarcasm>

Not holding my breath on this one. If his business partner can prove his accusations he'll probably be facing time real soon anyway.

Gofundme.com ?.....

Reportedly, the FFL holder/veteran has a fund raiser on a crowd funding site.
How this plan or his other ideas are going to source a new factory with 350 employees?

Oprah Winfrey who's worth hundreds of millions once said how she's concerned about how her choices & business decisions effect 425 employees.
Does this guy have that kind of cheddar? :uhoh:

It sounds like it might be like the old Texas phrase; all hat & no cattle.

He says he has new investors.

And he wasn't misquoted, he was on local radio here spouting off about online sales. Then invited Piers to his store, which backfired. Piers made him look like a buffoon.

I heard from a colleague tonight that knows him, that he isn't entirely honest about his service record too. No idea if it's true.

But I will never offer my business to this dude.

The VAST majority of lead used in ammo (and everything else) is secondary melting of scrap. That plant in MO was the last primary smelter left but really didn't supply that much of the lead used.

We're still good for a number of years to come.

As to this guy - I have my doubts. A lot of people tend to make grandiose claims right as they're going out of business. Or in other words - I'll believe it when I see it.

we shall see what actually happens... on facebook he said they did a chapter 11 to restructure their debt to keep their doors open... no idea where the financing is coming from for the ammo plant but freedom munitions is a fairly new player to the game and they seem to be doing well... i love going by there and seeing ammo by the pallet... literally

I don't know what articles you looked up, but, for those of us who followed this garbage in the beginning, there was nothing that was taken out of context about his support for ban of online ammo sale.
Just Google tactical firearms support ban on online ammo sale and read up on what happened in the beginning.
When being called out, he tried to explain/clarify his position, but, instead, stepped more into his pile of crap.

How is a guy who couldn't pay his property tax going to fund an ammunition plant?

Given the fact that Alcede ripped off his principal investor; folks will be somewhat gunshy of bankrolling Alcede. There's a very good chance Alcede and spouse could get jail time.

BTW: Fox News failed to report on the fact that Tactical Firearms was placed in receivership to protect the interests of the principal investor:
