I'm curious as to what the effect is on the blade edge and the material of the grip.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all of your replies.
Most of the knives that I have made have been one of a kinds. I am working on getting some of my knife designs into more of a line of knives that I can offer over the next few months. There are many changes taking place in my shop all for the better.

Wheelgunslinger,
Great question. That blade has a hand carved dyed box elder burl grip and the flames on the blade were acheived by painting the flames on with a small brush that works as a resist, once the paint dried I let it soak in ferric chloride etching the exposed blade. Once etched the paint was removed with acetone.

I am typically not interested in swords all that much, but every once in awhile I see something that makes me think "Man, I need a sword". That Gladius made me think that!
