I hope this is the right place for this.

I have an 01 FFL and have been looking at getting set-up to take plastic, its getting more and more common for people at shows to either ask if I take plastic, or just present a card at the time of payment.

The issue, I am running into is that several of the companies I have looked at is that the companies do NOT allow firearm sales transactions.

Anybody have a suggestion for a company I can look at??

I checked into Square.com and Revelup.com

Our gun club uses Square with zero issues

Might try the same Visa company that Cabela's uses

#6 on the Square user agreement

It could almost be argued that your club is violating two sections of #6....

Perhaps First National Bank of Omaha Visa.
I used to have them and dumped them for high fees. They're not really FNBO any more, the bank end is TSYS and if you do a search on them you will find a ton of complaints.

For high volume FFL's use either Payment Alliance International or Transnational, and for low volume with no monthly fee but a higher swipe fee look at EMSPlus.

A shame! And yet they have been so good to me since 2002. :scrutiny: Just lucky, I suppose. :uhoh: I'll watch my 6 with them from now on.

I use a Sqare on my iPhone and it's superb.

I could care less about their policies. I'm a pirate. Get over it... ;-)

Have you spoken with the bank you use for your business? We are not in the gun business but a refrigeration service business and receive about 15% of our accounts receivable through plastic. Every hustler in the world will offer you great service and lower rates but we have found that our business banker offers the best overall package. The money goes directly into our account, the service charge is competitive with all of the "best deal" servicers we tried prior to the logical choice of our own bank, and you always deal with the same person. All bets are off if you bank at Wells Fargo though.......

That's somewhat ironic, because he also uses it for club memberships to the gun club as well as for buying prepaid rounds of targets (shotgun club) as well as orders for powder, ammo, wads, primers, etc.

Most processors are OK with in-person swiped transactions for firearms and ammo. Most of them will cancel you in a heartbeat for manually keyed transactions for guns, ie: web sales, Gunbroker auctions, etc. Payment Alliance International, and Transnational are the two companies which have done their homework and understand the firearm industry. Give them a call to compare rates and fees.
Don't try to skirt the rules with Square, they will catch you, and whatever money hasn't been transferred to your account will be tied up for a long time.

Nobody bothers to read.........

ericbc7 Yep "square" is a good way to go, I deal with lots of U-pick strawberry operations and they all love it.
While it may be wonderful for strawberry pickers, it is a terrible choice for a gun dealer.

Last year, Square announced that it would no longer allow transactions involving firearms, firearm accessories or ammunition.

Several dealers have reported difficulties because they ignored Square's policy. Their accounts were closed and $$$ tied up for months until Square decided to release it.

ah dogtown tom, i have no dealings with with Square directly, i may have naively assumed that commercial transactions were not sensitive to type. what i don't understand is how Square would know what kind of transaction was occurring unless you told em.
so im a bit skeptical but not dismissive of your claim that they might screen their transactions. Square has lots of detail available for sales and perhaps significant items or categories send up flags. I have no idea, but the info should be available from them.
