how many of you dads or grandpas out there take your daughter/grand daughter hunting?

Every chance I get.

But a picture is worth a thousand words.

My daughter just turned 2. At 22 months she was sitting on my lap and we were looking at a deer rifle. She said "I will shoot a deer and put it on the wall."

She should be hunting by 6 or 7 if she wants to. That's when her brothers started.

ur a lucky man H&H thats a great lookin family

how long till they go after a cape buffalo? lol

If they had their way they'd be headed to the Zambezi with me in May. But I am going to wait until they can safely take the anti malarial drugs first.

They have already been to South Africa with me and my big girl helped the Zulu trackers blood trail a wildebeest.

I'll never forget the sight of those staunch faced Zulus bent over with intense interest and total dedication to their job, tracking away and tucked between these tall muscular men was my little Tori, 6 years old also bowed over earnestly searching for the next drop of blood. She looked like a dainty forest pixie standing amongst teakwood giants.:D

Its good to get them interested at an early age. We need all the future hunters we can get.

Started taking my daughter bird hunting at about 8. She loves cleaning birds for her brothers. Shot her first deer at 11. In June we're going on a prarie dog hunt with Varmint Hunters mag.

My daughter with her second of the season in 2006.
She was 13 at the time.
Around 173 yards.

My Granddaughter turned 5 on a deer stand this Janurary. She has been able to spot a deer track since she was 2. My goal is that she be at home in a Manhattan townhome and a Mississippi deer camp. So far so good.

I think too many men have a problem doing things with their daughters. We are societally conditioned to think of them as dainty li'l things who'd prefer dolls & frillys to dirt, blood & fur. So many just never learn how to relate to them on a one-to-one basis.

Then, there's these type of guys; some friends have 3 kids; their 2 oldest are girls, (their 3 & our 3 are almost identical in age) and the Dad was very close with the eldest, until their 3rd, a son, was born. After that, she was kinda relegated to 2nd place, if you will, and it seems that he's doing more with the now 6-year old boy, than he does with the 2 girls combined. His eldest has pretty much lost her interest in hunting, although he's sure bringing the boy up to love it-very sad IMNTBHO. I've offered to take her, but it hasn't panned out.

My eldest has taken a deer and hunted moose. My second has hunted turkey, and my 6-year old says she wants to shoot an elk this year! They're equally happy in dirt or lace.

Looking at the pic`s and reading the comments says it all. Bonding with your kids..........doesn`t get any better than that.

Yes!

Take us Hunting. Teach us how to shoot. Teach us how to put up our own tree stand. Teach us how to field dress our deer. My hunting parner is my dad - No matter how far away I live - I make it back every year to hunt with him.

I'm so happy that my cousin is getting his little girl into it. Here we are last fall...

In the last 6 years, I have taken 8 kids deer & sqirrel hunting for the first time. 2 were my daughters(14 & 13) 2 other girls 14&16. My boy at 13. 3 neighboe boys 16-16-14. I think it is good to teach the early. My kids started shooting around 10. Took them hunting when they were ready and wanted to go. Its hard to get them out of bed the first time. But once they get to see a deer at 20-30 yards they are hooked. Now days I have no problem getting one or 2 to go hunting with me.
Will try posting picture of my daughters first deer, first time out(10 point) at 15 yards. Told her after that she stays home opening day;] She still goes.

The only time I had a chance to go hunting this year was with my little girl at her request. She is four and had been with me to help my nephew retrieve his first deer (11). A few weeks later we were at a sporting goods store and she was looking at stands and next thing I know she is asking to go. I think the part that touched me the most is she said "Daddy I am four and have not killed one yet" We do lots of things together including fishing walking in the woods shooting etc looks like we will be spending a little more time in the woods. My advice to Dads spend every minute you can while you are still cool one day they will have better things to do. I for one will be a broken hearted pup.

The girls may leave for a while but they come back. They remember every minute of every trip and everything that was said and done. Mine are in their 20's and hopefully will bring me some grandkids to hunt and fish with. They both have their CCW permits and are still well connected to the gun culture. They can plant a garden, change their own oil, pack wheel bearings, run a trotline, and skin and process a deer. If the SHTF, I'm not too worried about them or my grandkids making it.

My little girl is 7. She's been squirrel hunting with me for a couple years. Hasn't taken a squirrel yet. She hasn't wanted to go deer hunting yet. Maybe this year.

My girl is 5 now and went dove hunting with me 2 times this last season. She doesn't shoot yet, but she loves going out to the woods and being outdoors. The first hunt was just an afternoon with few birds flying. The second time it was an early morning wake up call and I was not sure if she would be up to it. I tried to get her up the usual way, but that did not work. I finally told her that I was going hunting and that she would have to stay home with mom if she did not get up. She did not open her eyes, but said, "Where is my camouflage t-shirt?"

My daughter is 7 and has been hunting with me for a couple years. She has really been getting into predator hunting and tracking this year.

Pre hunt photo op.

Circe predator call, Knight and Hale howler and the pink boomstick.

Taking aim.

She's bad news with that .22 too. :D

Bigreno, what scope is on the .22?

I got a Crickett 226 for my daughter and told her once she was proficient with the iron sights, I'd get her a scope.
