Talk me down, man.....

I used the 2 for 1 system to consolidate. I promised myself if I sell two I can buy one. That's what I did and now I'm down to a number that will fit into a small upright safe with a little room to spare. There almost has to be some reward in it or you won't do it. It's like eating out in a nice restaurant after eating unappetizing things for a week to lose weight.
Oooooh, I like that plan!

Any historic or hard-to-find interesting guns I've sold, I've regretted. Plastic guns, mass-market guns? Nah. But I'd regret selling any of my growing collection of WW2 guns. I regret selling my H&K P7.

I'd be interested in your old stuff if you do make a bad decision.

CMP still has service grades for $900. I have two coming today, actually.

EDIT: FedEx showed up literally as I was typing this.
Not looking to drop $900

You're living in 2023 America with the biggest civilian disarmament push in the country's history underway and you're getting rid of guns?
Buy more guns, more ammo! Every gun I've ever sold, with the exception of a beat up Turkish Mauser that just needed more work than the gun was worth,
I have regretted selling.

I'm stacking guns on top of guns to fit them in my safe. I thought about selling a couple "value" rifles, but then I remembered the disarmament push you mentioned and decided I wouldn't sell them. I definitely won't be getting a new firearm soon, but I won't be thinning out the herd yet either.

On the chopping block are all my .30-06 rifles, including a Garand
and all my .45 pistols; several 1911s
I dunno, man; consolidate all you want, but I'd say keep the Garand and a legit 1911A1 if you have it. Those would be justifiable safe queens. A single M1 Carbine, too.

I have a couple guns I may never shoot again, but keep them for other reasons. Sometimes it's just the coolness factor of owning one.

I would think a Garand and a 1911A1 would be a nice 4th of July range trip.

Haha, I have more than adequate "tactical" stuff for any survivable contingency. The proceeds from selling any of my old, less supportable stuff would get rolled into more 9mm, 5.56, and .308 ammo mostly, and Im not ruling out picking up a few more ARs or PCCs, heck maybe even a (gasp) Glock or 3....

All that said, I took out a bunch of the guns Im on the fence about and played with them the other night for the first time in a long time. They really do give me joy just in the owning, but Im not sure its enough to convince me to keep them in lieu of more modern/useful gear.

Still mulling it over.

Keep them and buy more! Problem solved!

I have shooting guns, and collectibles. One woman I know collects sewing machines, I knew a radio collector, as I told him, too bad you can't tune in 1935.

After selling off of all my weird European milsurps a few years ago (and their unobtainium cartridges), Im considering another round of consolidation by divesting my arms chambered for domestic cartridges which have become untenably expensive, are STILL hard to find post-Covid, or don't offer significant performance advantages.

On the chopping block are all my .30-06 rifles, including a Garand, M1917 Eddystone, Weatherby Vanguard, several M1903s, my last .243 Savage M99, a pair of .30 M1 Carbines, and all my .45 pistols; several 1911s, SIG P220, S&W M645, etc.

I'm fond of all these, but just can't afford to feed them very often and they dont get shot much as a result. I dont have the space or free time for reloading in any useful quantities either.

That would get me down to just 8 cartridges: .22, .38/.357, .380, 9mm, .223, 7.62X39, .308, and 12GA.

The sale of these older guns would fund a significant quantity of ammunition for the remaining chamberings- hopefully enough to weather shortages Im expecting from the next manufactured crisis.

This would require surrendering the majority of my beautiful vintage centerfires, though of course I still have many fine old .22 rifles and revolvers if I need a Blue Steel and Walnut fix.

My head says this is The Way, but my heart says NO NO NO!

I'm on a ledge, talk me down, man......
Did something similar with all my .30 caliber semi-autos – M1, M14, HK91 clone, AK in 54r, and an AR in .300 AAC.

Took advantage of the current sellers' market.

Used the money to buy revolvers; don’t miss them a bit.
