Taller FRONT SIGHT! for cryin out loud...?

Even more importantly than a picture of the side view is the chance to measure the WIDTH of a good sample of guns. The slot from model to model and year to year might vary slightly. Fit on these blades is very critical unless one is willing to live with a solder in option or an easy fit which then requires staking of the barrel.

Another option for them is to serrate the sides of the key portion so there's a wide tolerance of slot width since the peaks of the serrations will deform to fit in a reasonable range of slot widths.

The trick is to get to where there's enough retention pressure so the blade won't come out in time vs too wide and not fitting at all.

Regarding the possibility of Skinner (or anyone else) making a commercial front sight replacement

It might be worth mentioning that Pietta's sight has different dimensions than Uberti, and I would say there are just as many Piettas out there as Ubertis.

Chaz
My uberti dragoon sight is thicker than a nickel

I made this one on the lathe after the original fell out. I saw the base of it was an arc of a circle and figured if I turned a brass bar to about the right diameter I could part off a slice that was the exact thickness. It took a couple of goes. I drilled the central hole to make cutting out the sight easier. (I might do a better picture in daylight)
