I've been reading past threads about the PT145 and there have been some negative things said about frame cracking and other anommolies.

I'm a day or two away from (probably) buying the little .45 and I'd like to know if there are any current problems with the gun? Is everything fixed on the new ones?
Should I stick to the "Pro" version to avoid problems?

Sorry but the Mil has soured me with their QC problems and the fact that I couldn't keep the magazine in my PT-111. Just not the right design for me, as I inadvertantly hit the mag release with every session.

Stevie-Ray,

I had the same problem and solved it with a rasp and a pocket knife. I trimmed the release button down almost flush and scribed some serrations on the top. Took all of about 10 minutes and it was free. Since then, I've yet to have a problem with inadvertantly dropping the mag.

First off, use the search feature here and at www.thefiringline.com and read all about the PT145 problems.

Seems after a certain Serial Number things got better on the first models

Rumor has it the Pro version is alot better than the 1st generation.

Trigger is suppose to be better (to a degree anyway) and the frame seems to be better built.

Would I buy one, maybe if the price was right.

Seems Taurus warranty folks were overwhelmed with work because of the 111/145 issues and have forgotten that the customer comes first. Hopefully they will get their act together and take care of the consumer.

I have never had problems with Taurus but others have.

I have a PT-145 Millennium Pro, that I am very satisfied with. Have only put about 250 rds of hardball and 20 rds of Hydra-Shoks through it so far, so can't really comment on its durability. No problems so far, and the fit and finish seem much better than on the earlier PT-145. The trigger pull is light years better than the older model, as well.

I don't think you'll be sorry if you get one -- especially the stainless version like I have.

Good luck!

Thanks, Brad. Too late for me, as mine was traded, but I will relay this solution to my buddy who has the same gun and loves it, with the exception of having the same problem.

I've been waiting for the stainless version to come out with night sights. Taurus' website says spring '03. Then they amended it to 4th quarter of '03. That time is near, so I called them last week and the CS rep said it may not be out til after the 1st of the year!! What gives? They have the blued w/ nite sites, why so long to get the stainless to market?

Thanks a lot for your thoughts.
I guess I'll go ahead and get the 145 Pro... $400 locally, 10+1, it's small, and I have not found a bad word spoken of the Pro version.

Stevie-Ray, I had the same mag release problem on my Pt-111, until I did two things. First I took my Dremel tool, with a polishing wheel, and polished the release almost flush to the grip, BUT only half of it. I basically ended up with a release button half the area as I began with. Next I added a Houge hand-all Jr grip, but I also applied a new product, the Decal Grip, in a rough 1/8" thick texture. The thickness of the Decal Grip alone might do it for most, but I went ahead and polished the release button anyway. Since then I have had zero mags drop while shooting.
