Taurus TH45 Just Released

If I didn’t already have my 10mm 1911 I would jump

Understandable. I have a 1006, so the top quality metal frame procurement box is already checked, reducing my interest in the P220 and 1911 10mm platforms. Other than the on-again/off-again Tanfoglios, not much out there for hammer-fired high capacity 10's, putting the Taurus on my radar screen.

I have been thinking of a 1911 pattern weapon for home defense, but would like a DA/SA and higher capacity. This checks those boxes so I think I will do some more research on this one with an eye toward buying one. I have cylinders in 45ACP for my 45 Colt revolvers, but they aren't great for home defense and I am a fan of 45s.

The "Taurus bashing" was somewhat tongue in cheek because every time someone posts anything about Taurus pistols/revolvers at least one person is going to pop in telling everyone how terrible they are........... It's as predictable as the sun rising in the east..........
Ah, sort of like every thread about Mini-14’s has someone (or several) chiming in about how they’re overpriced and AR’s are so much better, even though no one asked for that comparison.

They have had that listing up for quite some time. It has never been "In Stock" because it does not exist. Taurus spoke of coming out with a 10mm TH a few years ago, even going as far as releasing promo's and letting some online retailers list them. I believe there was even a few videos on youtube where Taurus reps spoke of it. It just never materialized. As I said in another thread, it is my opinion that for whatever reason, they just canned the project and went with the TH45 instead.

If Taurus’ 10mm TH version can run hiccup-free on mag after mag of real, undiluted 10mm ammo, the pistol will quickly become the next hot seller in that dangerous place called “bear country,” which isn’t just Alaska although it’s sure to sell well up there too.

Again, assuming it actually works. :scrutiny:

Several stores list the TH10 but nothing available yet

They have been listed for several years.

I just did a search and found a guy on YouTube who says it is official that the th10 is coming to the USA finally, so maybe I will have to stand corrected.

Uummmmm, While I like .45 I also like 40 S&W and the TH40 can be had for under $300........... All the reviewers for the TH line do state they all have the typical Taurus trigger so anyone who has pulled on a Taurus stock trigger will know what to expect.
Currently both the TH9 & TH40 come in compact models.

Does it have a a decocker? Don’t understand why they didn’t do up for safe, and horizontal for fire? I shoot thumbs forward and like to ride the safety with my thumb….

I think it is up for safe and horizontal for fire, like a 1911. The decocker is down, below horizontal, and it springs back to horizontal. So, riding the safety could activate the decocker.

Just ordered the 45. I've been waiting for the TH10 and will also grab one when available.

The TH9/TH40 seem to have a pretty good reputation. I think the TH45 will do the same.

Who uses a safety on a DA/SA? That's like wearing a seatbelt in a parked car.

It’s so you can carry cocked/locked if you want. That’s the only reasonable explanation I can think of. CZ75, etc. on the other hand, can’t engage the safety unless cocked, and separate models are dedicated to decockers. My highly esteemed opinion is that if you want a decocker, it should not be where you will bump it with your thumb (on the slide, Beretta M9 for instance) during firing and if you want a safety, it should be where you can ride it with your thumb (1911, for instance). Taurus is trying to appeal to those who want both with one model, and by doing so, seems to have shot themselves in the foot (proverbially speaking).
