TC Renegades...

Power went out at work this morning so they sent us home.

I got bored and figured I'd post a couple pics of my rifles.

Top, double set trigger, one was my dad's that I inherited in '05 when he passed.

Bottom is my Renegade Hunter (single trigger) that I got for Christmas when I was 12 (long time ago!)

Anyway, thanks for looking and I'd love to see all of your TC's

Posted before but since you asked so nicely…

I have taken two whitetails with my TC .54 Hawken, a doe and this 9-point. Range on the buck was 15 yards from a tree stand. Took an hour and lots of stops to catch my breath to drag him back to my car, even after gutting him.

No pictures, but years back I bought and gave my granddaughter a used Renegade. I put a non adjustable rear sight on it, changed the recoil pad to a metal butt plate, redid the barrel to brown, and played around with some die to pretty up the stock so it had some figure. I'm getting too old to make one from scratch so she'll have to make do. It shoots just fine - she got a deer the first year out with it. My brothers boy wanted to start shooting MLers so I gave him a 50cal TC Hawken . On that gun I had installed a Bill Large custom barrel and redid the wood a bit. Now he has a gun that will shoot better than he can. TCs always hold a dear spot in my heart. YEARS ago I started with a really poor kit gun that wouldn't shoot. TC came out with their Hawkens so I bought one. Man what a difference. After owning two or three my neighbor gave me some pointers in building my own so that was it for store bought guns. I was sorry to see them stop building hammer guns. I always thought they were a excellent buy for the money.

I haven't shot my dad's since I was a child but have shot my single trigger a lot.

It's accuracy impresses me every time.

Both .50 cal.

I've had it in my head that I'd like to find (or build) a flinter someday.

No photos but I've been enjoying a 50 caliber Renegade for almost 40 years. I've added Green Mountain drop-in barrels in 54, 50 and 32 calibers, had one barrel reamed out to a 20 gauge smooth bore (surprisingly accurate with a patched round ball), and picked up a spare stock. Accurate and versatile and utterly reliable. Renegades are a great value.

Just find a used TC lock [ flint ]. It should drop right in. You'd still need a flint barrel, but replacement barrels shouldn't be too hard to find.
