I'm in some need of help of resources online for teaching others how to use a firearm. So far I have been able to take both my dad and today my sister to the range to shoot. My dad had some prior training, but my sister had none. So while we were sitting at the table and I'm showing her stuff, it would have been a little helpful for her to read something and ask questions instead of me trying to think of a progression of what to say. Also proper alignment of the sights had to be drawn.

I have been asked by kids and their parents who I work with/coach to teach them how to use a firearm. So something to assiste me would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to take the NRA Instructor course in the future, but my coaching schedule doenst allow it right now.

Also, Sis hit the X a few times with the .22 at 7 yards, so I did something right....

Thanks

John

The NRA sells three Basic Firearm Training books, one for Rifle, one for Pistol, and the third for Shotgun.

These are usually given to students who take Basic Firearms courses from an NRA instructor, but they are available to anyone. Cost is around $5.

They are pretty good. I've read all three and they are thorough and accurate.

Since your in Northern Va. Go to the NRA and get the proper instruction yourself, and become a NRA certified instructor. Do it right and do it safely......UW

John,

I just recently became an NRA certified instructor, almost exactly for the same reasons you mentioned. It took some time (one weekend) but was definitely worth it.
