Finally registered on here, though I've been viewing for years...
I recall people asking years ago about Ted Nugent killing a cape buffalo with his 10mm. Well, I happened to be looking through some old VHS tapes and found the video I recorded when it was on PBS. I recorded it to DVD and uploaded it to YouTube.

It's at the link below.

Thanks for this. In all honesty, I have used Ted's videos and tv show to bring several women into shooting/hunting. There's something about his passion and the way he explains what he does and why that it sparks their curiosity.

Yes, he over the top, but he's right much more than he's wrong. So I say go Ted.

I believe the armor piercing bullet was just a means to get effective penetration from a 10mm on such a big game. I wouldn't think a hollow point 10mm would do much better than throwing rocks. If given the choice I sure wouldn't pick a 10mm of any sort to stop a charging buffalo.

Thanks for posting the link. I guess I'm in the minority, but I like Uncle Ted.

Just heard "Strangle Hold" yesterday for the first time in a long while.......good stuff.

Also, I think it says a lot about Ted that he has often been open about making mistakes while hunting and what needs to be done to avoid the same and to deal with the aftermath of making a poor shot or decision.

416 Rigby or .408 CheyTac? (Sorry... I had to. )
Well I was speaking more specifically about the 10mm auto. Should have been more specific.

As for the rest of this back and forth, Your all right. There are those who must be moved by their mind, and those that will only move from emotion. To do just one or the other would not work by itself. Both should be employed.

SharpsDressedMan,

I am thinking 200gr or 230gr HC at less than 20 yards from a tree stand might be viable and not suicidal.

If I think there is a 2,000 lb Cape buffalo within a half mile of me, I think I would want something like a .454 Casull as my sidearm. But, I guess my G20 might work with good placement of a heavy, HC bullet.

Sometimes, the best gun for any given situation is the one you happen to have on you at the time. The nice thing about a Glock 20 is that it is light and small enough to carry all the time, as opposed to a bigger .44, .454, or .375.
