Directions to the Cheatham WMA range.

Disclaimer: Distances are approximate and recommended routes are my opinion. YMMV.

If you are coming from I-40, the easiest way is to come to White Bridge Road exit. It's about exit 101 or so. Go North. This becomes Briley Parkway.

Go to the exit for Ashland City Hwy. (Hwy 12) Turn Left on Hwy 12.

At the end of the 4 lane, (as you enter Ashland City) turn left on "bypass 49." (bear to the left at screwball intersection.) This road comes to a "T" at Hwy 49. Turn left onto Hwy.49. (AKA Cumberland St.) **

Go >>>roughly<<< 3 mi. to Hwy 250. Turn left on Hwy. 250. (landmark= Two Rivers Fire Dept.)

Approx. 3.8 miles on hwy. 250 to Amoco on left.

At Amoco, turn Left (45 degrees) to Griffithtown Rd. There is a Cheatham WMA sign on the left of the road.

Go 1.3 mi. on Griffithtown Rd. Turn Left at Headquarters Rd. (gravel rd.)

Go .8 (8/10ths) mi. on HQ Rd. Range is on the left.

They have installed new target boards. (1 at 25 yd. berm, a couple each at the other 2 berms.) There are also maps of the WMA at the Amoco.

** if you prefer to go into Ashland City, turn left at the light at Hwy 49 West. (landmark= Mid-Tenn Appliance Ctr.)

Looking like almost the same turn out if everyone's plans hold though. Maybe a few more with the addition of AL and KY coming though. Maybe it needs to be instead of TN Mafia something alone the lines of "south of the mason dixon line mafia" :D

Hey Darrin, I ment to tell you thanks for showen my son Eddie how to shoot that walther p22 of yours. He thought that was the greatest. When I had to take him back to his mom that was all he could talk about. Now he really wants to be a police men when he's all grown up. Which is something he has said along. I asked him when he was 7 (he is now 10) .Why do you want to be a police men? I figured it was because he wanted to wear the uniform or the badge or even carring the gun around. So you know what he said. "I want to be able to pull people over and write them tickets". :D Well I just wanted to say thanks alot with helping teach my son gun safety. Oh ya. My girlfriend likes that walther also. So I guess I'll have to go a buy one now. Like that really would be a bad thing.:) OOOOO mwithers72. About the no ammo for you thing. All I have to say is I's sorry, I's sorry oh Kemo sobi , it won't happen again.:neener: Ya right! :D

Kenny, I'm glad Eddie enjoyed himself. Next time, we'll get him on the rifle and see how he likes it.

Mark, I have some more brass for you you. Not much, but some. :)

Shoot with a theme?

Ok, since it's looking as if this is going to be a monthly thing, (THR shoots), how about we add some 'quirks' to the fun.

How about each month has a theme to the shoot? Here are some ideas:
1. .22s (For when the budget is low or new shooters are coming.)
2. Shotguns (Heh, BOOM!)
3. Bolt action rifles (Little contests between us for accuracy.)
4. Semi-auto rifles (How many times can you reload while OEF_VET empties his 75rd drum?)
5. Revolvers
6. Evil Black Rifles
7. Class III (I wish)
8. Carry guns (Draw and shoot drills could be done together, share ideas.)
9. <Insert idea here>

Everyone who brings a firearm that fits in the theme could participate in some shooting contests while we are there. Actual contest can be thought of later or during the planning of that shoot.

Now, we wouldn't be limited to just the weapon that fits the theme. Example: Let's say the theme is "Revolvers." I don't have a revolver, so I'd still bring what toys I want. However, that would be a great time for me to check out other's wheelguns for when I am ready to get one. Plus you wheelgun owners could swap, compare, whatever with the others.

I know some of you have waaaaaaaaaaaaay more guns than I, so this would be a chance for everyone to concentrate on that shoot's theme. You wouldn't have to lug everything, (unless you want to), plus, it'd help with ammo cost. On .22s, heck, that'd be a cheap range trip!

Anyway, anyone interested in this idea? Am I an idiot who thinks too much? Wanna try it this month? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop? Inquiring minds want to know.

any reason we can't do em all in one day.... that's what i was hoping for anyway...

if im gonna drive 5-6 hours one way you can bet im gonna shoot everything i can get my hands on!!!:D

i can do everything but shotguns, and class 3.... but then there's 3 weeks until then:p

and you didn't list semi pistoles....

yesterdaysyouth, re-read my post carefully.

I don't know Darrin, I think I can empty that drum (and my wallet at the same time) pretty darn quick.

For evil black rifles, can I include my AR-7? Hey, it is a semi-auto rifle with two evil features: pistol grip and detachable magazine.;)

Im thinking along the lines of OEF's suggestion for last time maybe. If anyone can remember. Do the mail in shoot. Have the TN Mafia entry :D. Maybe we need to demand a new "group" catagory :D

Nott sure if I can show up, will try.

Speaking of 75-round drums: mine is for sale (I traded away the rest of my Mak90 kit). Would anyone want to buy it?

I have a friend that has a mac90. i have sent him an e-mail about that drum for the mac90. Yes I can always use more brass. Thanks for thinking of me. I hope to have lots of ammo for the setp 14 shoot. I will bring a couple 22lr to site in the scoopes (i can't spell) too. Do you think that I can get them to site in at 100 yds ? I am tring to talk my father in law to let me bring his SKS!! ( you know to site in the scope on it too )

Oleg,

You wouldn't be interested in trading that drum for a CVA replica of a Colt 1851 (.44 blackpowder) would ya? I've got all the accessories, caps, a few balls of shot, about 3/4 lb. of powder, and two handmade leather 'possibles' bags to go with it. C'mon, you know you need a b/p revolver to add to your collection, do't you?

Frank

Would prefer something modern, if possible...cash would be more useful, though. Just about the only milsurp I still want is an M1917 and that's a lot more money than the drum...and I can't make up the difference at this time.
