That’s about the closest to an AD as I’ve ever had.

I’ve been playing with a new P365 I picked up.

I go to load it and, holster it. Rough reenactment of what my desk looked like. Ammo. Mag pouch. Stop watch. A tax bill I need to mail off that was stuck on the side of my file cabinet…just stuff. It’s re staged. I’m not really sure where everything was exactly.

I chamber a round. Take out the mag. Set the gun down and, top off the mag.

Pick the gun up. Insert the mag.

Pull my T Shirt out of the way, glance down to make sure the holster is clear and lower the gun into the holster. Finger off trigger. The muzzle goes in and I give it a nudge to seat it and, it stops.

Weird.

Lift gun to see what’s blocking it.

That little magnetite apparently, stuck to the slide when I set the gun down and, as I tried holstering it, it rolled and, latched onto the trigger. It’s oval shaped and rolled to where it was hanging outside the trigger guard on each side.

So. I cleared the gun and tried it a couple times with the safety off.

Yes. The little nudge I used to seat the gun in the holster would have fired it. Fortunately, the safety was on.

I’m big on off switches on guns. Or DA guns where I can put my thumb on the hammer when I holster it.

I figure the odds of that ever happening again are just astronomical. My finger, off the trigger, blocked my view of seeing that thing in there.

Never would have seen that coming if the gun had fired.

It’s a magnetic rock. I have a few of them I use to stick bills on my file cabinet I need to take care of. Notes to myself.

That one needed to be mailed so, I pulled it off and laid it on my desk.

Thanks for reply . I can see how that getting in there could cause havoc ...
Glad you caught it ... what a strange scenario of events to have happen ...
I guess it's true ... You can't be too careful !

My wife has never noticed the 22 caliber hole near the corner of our ceiling.

My wife hasn't noticed the 38 cal. hole in our's either !
Maybe wives are too busy looking down at what we spilled on the carpet !
Gary

I have noticed a .22 cal sized hole in my ceiling. I’m sure my wife didn’t do it and both my teenaged boys at the time agreed “Wadenme” did it.

I HATE external safeties on Striker-Fired pistols. If I’m ever in a shootout, I just hope my opposition HAS a safety on their firearm.

When I load & holster before going out, I am constantly inspecting my firearm. Something as this would never escape my attention. I never rush. Every single time the pistol is verified before & during holstering. Never assume… Verify!

Glad nothing happened in your situation.

Every single time that you holster your pistol. You inspect the gun, the trigger guard and the holster. Every single time?

Every time my friend. It only takes a minute. Just a visual inspection. Sides, top, bottom, trigger guard, muzzle & crown. I also look at the last & next chambered round, before I chamber EVERY time. To make certain there is no discernible
set-back.

My patience is something. I warn a person looking to test my resolve.;)
