That's a good idea. I like that S&W.Depending on which end of the house it’s either the Glock 45 or the S&W 327NG. My two favorite handguns.

If something more impressive is needed the Mossberg 500 is located roughly between them.
Benjamin makes a nice pellet gun. I have a Ruger Air Hawk. It has taken several squirrels.Bumps in the night Glock 19. If I hear a break-in like the door being kicked in my Ruger PCC. Going to town my ruger LCP ll. Varmints get my Benjamin 177 pump. I live in the burbs.
Had a old one around 96-97 best pellet rifle I ever owned. This new one is junk. But it is faster then the old one. 800fps-1100fps. Decent accuracy. Good enough for squirrelsBenjamin makes a nice pellet gun. I have a Ruger Air Hawk. It has taken several squirrels.

I sure like my old Benjamin .22 caliber pump-up pellet rifle. However, “pumping up” a Benjamin pellet rifle can be hazardous for some people. My wife hasn’t touched my Benjamin pellet rifle in probably 35 years - not since she closed the pump handle on one of the protuberances on her chest.Had a old one around 96-97 best pellet rifle I ever owned.
That sounds painful! It takes some work to pump those bad boys up. Its worth it. Well with the old ones. Still haven't warmed up to the new one.I sure like my old Benjamin .22 caliber pump-up pellet rifle. However, “pumping up” a Benjamin pellet rifle can be hazardous for some people. Some women like that type of thing. Others don't.I sure like my old Benjamin .22 caliber pump-up pellet rifle. However, “pumping up” a Benjamin pellet rifle can be hazardous for some people. I believe the OP was about that one gun you are likely to pick up.
May I ask, respectfully, did you read the original post?
What is the one gun you seem to always grab when you might have to shoot something?
No misunderstanding on my partThis was the first line from the OP......
.....I stand by my answer. If I need to shoot a pesky 'possum in the back yard, am I going to grab my ought-six?
If it's a deer, then maybe. Depends.
When I walk out the door and need to take along something for SD, it ain't a long gun.
Again, guns are tools. They don't need love. They need purpose and all of mine have that.
Just as easy to grab the one that's most appropriate, than one that just tickles my fancy.

Was my general meaning. If you are on a farm, ranch, of general rough country. General utility trumps everything. That does somewhat depend on the situation. My hunting property is a fair drive away from my home so I don't have the option to take all my guns so I can select the best choice I have when I encounter a critter. The guns I posted up thread are the two guns that go with me to the hunting property just about every time I go. I may take other guns to shoot or hunt with by the 300 BO AR-pistol and Model 10 38 Special always go because I am confident they can deal with anything I am likely to encounter out there.
I took the open line of the OP to mean that one gun you grab when you might have to shoot something but are not yet sure of what that might be. Maybe I mis-interpreted him but I took it as a what is your utility gun that goes in the truck, tractor, UTV just in case. Not a situation where you know you have to deal with X so you pick the best choice for X. YMMV
