How can we still be so behind in keeping up with ammo wants?
OK maybe the Election caught the manufacturers off guard but this far along, how can a Capitalistic company not step up production to meet buyers needs?
It's obviouslly Gun Control just the way we were warned about by the conspiritists! Yea maybe they were off the mark on the Kennedy assination but did they really miss warning us about this???
So what are they saying today?
Maybe we'd better heed their warnings...
If the factories are running at 100% just who is buying all this ammo before the consumer gets a crack at it?
I buy what Ican as I can and within my megar SSI budget.

Go stand in line in front of Wal-Mart or Academy a couple of hours before they open and see for yourself.

You can get almost anything you want at wallys near me besides 22 and 9mm, I always see tula 223 on the shelf. Heck, even the most coveted reloading components- 223 and 9mm bullets, small pistol and rifle primers etc are available for pre panic prices online as I type this. Aim surplus down the road from me has kept x39 ammo cheap and In stock for nearly two weeks now. I see the end of the panic, id give it until november or so where you can walk in wally and get as many bricks of 22lr as you want for $20 a pop.

Im interested to see if prices take a dip once the bubble bursts. anyone that lived through the last obama induced panic care to share?

Things are looking up here in Central FL, except at Wally's. My two favorite LGS have pretty much anything I want (or can get it with a week or two) but they're still putting 2 box limits on FMJ & range ammo, unless you order a case specifically.

You have a lot to learn about capital improvement in the manufacturing business.

Not in MY part of central FL

I was talking to my LGS the other day and they were saying their distributors are saying at least through this year and well into next. 22lr is virtually non existant. They were saying their gun sales are now starting to drop off because people can't get ammo to shoot.
Thank you homeland no security!

"Funny thing, it's my understanding Canada has NO SHORTAGE. Tell you anything?"

Small population, not very many guns, and a very long winter.

Been getting plenty of .22 LR and .22 mag online; prices still suck but at least I can get it now. Even the "exotic" stuff (meaning anything and everything you couldn't get ANY of since CT) is starting to loosen up. I found a bunch of subsonic 300 bo and 6.8mm the other day so my optimism got a little jolt…perhaps they were lucky strikes, so to speak, but the frequency of such appears to be increasing.

I reload my own. So glad I bought as many primers as I did years ago. I wish I had bought more powder.

And being supplied by U.S. manufacturers, I still smell a fish, or is it a rat in the wood pile?

Those "rats" are the people that line up every ammo shipment day. Some to hoard and some to resell at gun shows. Every conceivable ammo was available at the gun show I went to a couple weeks ago. Just as long as you were willing to pay twice what it cost them to buy it at Wal-Mart.

No shortage here. I have bought close to 1000 rounds of 9mm and over 2000 rounds of 22lr in the last week. Don't get all spittin mad and say I'm a hoarder and all that jazz. I bought a new PPQ in 9mm and I wanted to break it in. Plus I have left more than I bought and I have not seen any "lines". Matter of fact I was the only one there.
But if your short on ammo and not a brand new shooter....... It's only your fault.

I'm kinda getting tired of these threads............:scrutiny:

Supply cannot catch up to demand as fast as we would like. It just does not work that way. To do so would require a significant capital investment. TO invest like that they will need more data to prove the current demand is here to say and not a blip in the radar.

I personally think we will see an increase in production over the next five years. I do not believe the demand is going anywhere.

We also need to see a balance in pricing.

Likely because Wally's has refused to raise prices through the roof...and as a result, everything they get in gets cleaned out in the first fifteen minutes every day...often to re-appear at 2 or 3X the price elsewhere.

Try again.
How about...nobody panic buying, nobody buying and re-selling at 300% profit margins...and nobody buying at 3X normal prices.

Now, now, I've been informed more than once its all a free market, and these "retailers" who have no retail license, and are using retail establishments for their main supplier, are only trying to make a few bucks.

Still no .22LR or 9mm. at any of the local shops as well as at three of the area Walmarts. Did see three boxes each of WWB in .40S&W and .45ACP. and what looked like some Tula brand .380; didn't need any so I passed on it.

ZVP: What shortage? Our gun show two months ago had every regular ammo type.
Gunbroker has had all types for quite a while, and some sellers found naive people to buy it at any price.

There have been almost all varieties, available for over two months. Do most people out there not use engines such as "Gunbot", "Ammoseek"? Some centerfire rifle ammo has been .18-.20-.25/round for about two months, if not longer.

Some of the people who talk about ammo shortages need to be more frank in their questions, and title their threads "Walmart ammo shortages" or such.

I've been visiting the Wally World by work about once/twice a week during the month of July. Today, I actually was able to buy three (the limit) 225 round boxes of "new & improved" Remington Golden 22LR's today for $10 a box. I'm kind of surprised. I didn't need the ammo and was doing the trips 'cause it's something to do at lunch (yeah - I know, I need a life).

Now I'm gonna jump on Gunbroker and flip 'em for 3X what I'd spent! <KIDDING!!!> :D

Anyway, I think the drought is close to being over. Every time I'd stopped by WW there had been 40S&W and a few boxes of 32ACP & .380 ACP. Still not too much 9mm aside from the day I snarfed up the few boxes.

I will believe its over when I start seeing CCI Mini mag for something approaching a reasonable prince. The good news is there is .22LR available again.

Everything else I shoot is available at elevated prices.

So why did you buy them and then have the store run out for someone else who might have needed them? This is what helps perpetuate the whole mess

So it's only"OK" to buy ammo that you need??????
I have been buying ammo for years, so I'm part of the problem??????
So anybody that has more than a box of ammo is "hoarding", I guess??????

Guilt trips won't work here......... If they have it and I want it, then I buy it. Save your $.02 for the ammo at gun shows.
