Homerboy: the Israeli military forces always carry their guns Unchambered.
Don't think this is the case anymore. Wasn't the last time I was in Israel in 1996. The Condition 3 carry and the "Israeli Draw" came from back in the day when the P-35 was a standard side-arm.

Also, I'm not sure why people think the U.S. military doesn't carry pistols in Condition 1. Pretty sure things haven't changed since I left active duty in '06 -- we always carried our M9s with a round chambered. I did carry a 1911 in Condition 3 up until my last unit which was issued them transitioned in '93.

I still have fondness for the M9. It's a gun that's always gonna go bang when you need it to ... plus, I always shot very well with it (yeah, I always shot expert with a 1911 too, and on the old qual course, where you needed a 228 for expert and went back to the 25 yard line (unlike the later course where 15 yards was the max distance).
