Yeah those old Geezers in our special forces need them geezer sights too...

They are easier and faster in the proper light, no question, once you get used to them.

I have issues being colorblind and even on full power I can easily lose the dot (and full circle with dot) in just the wrong light. I keep wanting to use them but the occasional range days I have to go to backup irons out of the holster has put a pause on it. I don’t want to need to change my entire sight picture philosophy dependent on lighting conditions that might not be immediately obvious.

But, again, I think that’s a me issue with my eyes, I want a “geezer” sight on my carry gun full time if I can find the combination that works 100% of the time

I think people sometimes fall into the category of “I carry xyz, it’s the best, and everyone should also ccw the xyz”

My choice is a G26, and I happily recommend it. But the reality is that there’s more than one way to skin a cat.

If it’s reliable, you know how to use it, are able to carry it regularly, use it effectively, and it’s chambered in a reasonable defensive caliber then rock on. Spend more energy practicing with what you have and less on chasing the ever evolving perfect ccw pistol is my thought.

Bonus points for capacity and quick reloads, because more. But it’s not the be all end all.

That’s my opinion.

It only has 8 + 1 rounds but I carry 2 extra magazines and feel very comfortable. If it takes more than 1 mag I should be getting out of there anyway.]

If you get caught in a riot, getting away may be easier said than done. I feel much more comfortable with the 14+1 capacity of my P365X with MagGuts modified Sig magazines.

Loaded to 14 rds against a closed slide, the MagGuts modified Sig magazine is substantially easier to rack than the stock Sig mag loaded to 12 rds. Some people cannot even rack the stock 12rd mag against a closed slide. I also polished the stripper rail which makes it even easier to rack. I can load to 14 rounds without a magazine loader. Whereas the stock Sig magazine is far more difficult to load to only 12 rds.

MagGuts magazine springs and less than 10 minutes of polishing of the stripper rail can make the P365 a much friendlier to operate pistol.

I look at it this way. The desirable characteristics of a carry piece, in order, are:

1. Reliability. It's got to go bang! every time you pull the trigger.
2. Shootability. Given that it went bang! did you hit with it?
3. Power. Given that it went bang! and you got a hit, did it do the job?
4. Capacity. Given that it went bang! and you got a hit, it did the job, how many more times can you do it?
5. Carryability and concealability. Can you carry it all day and nobody notices it?

The winner is the M1911.

I'd say number five should actually be number one. If you don't have it with you, none of the others matter.
