Since numerous other picture threads exist and flourish here, and I like guns in this category, I decided to make this thread. I'm thinking of traditional hunting rifles, but go ahead and post pictures of whatever you hunt with.

I'd kick us off, but the only rifle I ever had in this category, I've never hunted with. I also don't own it anymore. :(

Instead of all the restrictions how about just "Post pics of your bolt action hunting rifles".

Who cares if some milsurps in military configuration slip in there.

BTW...I hunt with both bolt actions and an AR-15.

Same here. I hunt with bolt-actions and M1As. Most of those bolt-actions have a heavy barrel, because I hunt the open bean fields, think 325 to 525 yard shots.

I'm not much of a hunter, but I have a proper bolt action if I'm ever invited to go. ;)

HS Precision Lightweight Sporter in 260 Rem. LEFT handed. Leupold 4.5-14 with B&C reticle. I primarily stick with 120 grain bullets. I ordered it with antelope and western deer hunting in mind...guess how many times I've gone and done that? Yup...not even once.

Either way, she shoots ok...

[I'll add another pic tomorrow when it's light out and I can take a proper photo.]

And light weight to book. Nice.

I hunt with an AR-15 in 6.5 Grendel.

So bolt action hunting rifles only? No lever action or semi-auto hunting rifles?

What we're looking for:
- Bolt-action rifles you actually hunt with
- Wood, composite, or laminate stock is fine
- Sporterized milsurps are okay

I only have 4 bolt guns in that class and 3 or 4 are .22s. Woe is me.

You should rename the thread to say " traditional" hunting rifles you sound like Cuomo when you start excluding AR10s from the category.

I removed the parameters. Put them there initially because I figured it would help keep the thread focused.

With the number of people who hunt with ARs, I didn't want this thread filled with them. Anyway, there's already an AR15 picture thread.

Thanks for all the pictures so far.

While I have several AR types I never bothered to hunt with them, nor have I hunted with my M1A, M1 Garands or any of my military style rifles. Simply because I had better rifles more suited for hunting. While I haven't gotten out hunting in several years I actively hunted heavy brush in West Virginia for years. There is no rifle hunting here in Ohio where I live.

The upper rifle is an old Ruger Model 44 Carbine and the lower is a Marlin 444. Both were well suited for heavy brush being short, handy and using big bullets.

Other rifles I used were the defective Ruger 77 chambered in 7mm Remington Magnum. I say defective because as can be seen plainly the bolt was installed backwards. Below is an old Remington 7400 chambered in 30-06. Both fairly traditional hunting type rifles.

I omitted my 22 rim-fires as there are several. Overall the above were my most used and favorite hunting type rifles.

Love the pics! Mine’s a Remington 700 CDL Stainless in 30-06, topped off with a Nikon 3-9 x 50. I had the stock epoxy bedded with aluminum pillars, free floated the barrel and adjusted the factory trigger. I do not hand load, for now, so I shoot 165 gr Hornady Superformance SSTs. The group below is at 200 yards, with me shooting from a bench and off a front rest only.

I guess you could say every rifle I own is a traditional hunting rifle, some were just originally made to hunt other stuff besodes game so if it goes bang sooner or later I'll hunt whith it!

Yeah, but that's a 3 shot group...and you know those don't count! I couldn't tell if I was hitting the target or not, so I stopped at 3....I should have put another 2 into it.
