+1 for "cheap imports" with double triggers

Nothing wrong with higher-end imports with double triggers either.......

Dependable for duck hunting? SX-2 Waterfowl, SX-1 field with MOD choke, black synthetic 1100 with choke tubes, and a '93 870 Express Magnum.

I don't got no double triggered guns.

And my Guerini Woodlander is only a 28 ga. anyway. Boo-hoo. ;)

No, but the gun firing both barrels on a single trigger pull was technically a malfunction.

Maybe the gun just knew what you needed.:D

It's also possible to bump-fire an O/U really fast. If you fire it before it's fully seated against your shoulder, this can happen pretty easily. I know how quickly I can react to a big covey unexpectedly flushing; I'd strongly suspect an unintentional bump-fire. Some guns do "double" and need to be repaired, but they will do it more than once.

Benelli M4S90. It feeds anything 2.75 drams and up, can be fired from the hip even with that weak stuff, and is accurate/patterns well, and always functions as advertised. I have now owned 3, and none did otherwise. This has been the "Glock" of the shotgun world for me.

I'd rather have 25 - $300 dollar guns than 3 - $2500 dollar guns, but then that's just me. Oddly enough the only gun I've ever gotten rid of for undepedability was a benelli sbe1, the most expensive gun I've ever purchased. However, I am considering buying what I consider to be a nice 16ga SxS as a retirement present from me to me in the next couple of years. I've been looking hard at new Ugartechea grade IIs. I want to keep the purchase price at or about 2K +/-

That's the most reasonable explanation I've heard, but doesn't quite fit with my experience. It felt like one really big kick, and sounded like one really loud report. Until I broke open the gun, I thought I had shot only one barrel, and attributed the recoil and report to dad's reloaded hunting rounds (he loads 'em hot...too hot actually).

Another poster suggested a cheap import gun with a double trigger. I'm not certain which gun I was shooting that day (years ago), but I can say with reasonable certainty it was a winchester 101 or a browning citori. I shot the 101 generally, but sometimes dad loaned it out to another hunter, and I would shoot the citori then. Neither are cheap import guns, nor have double triggers.

Whatever it was, it ended up being a neat experience that makes a good conversation piece (I usually have to produce the witnesses when BS is called, but isn't that the mark of most good stories?) That, and a few FTF's, have been the gun's only malfunctions. To put it in perspective, those malfs were rare, but they did happen, so I mention them. It may have been more to blame on needing cleaning, than the gun itself.

Is there a way to bump fire o/u's other than not properly seating @ the shoulder? I'd be interested in seeing if it can be duplicated, but I don't really want to bruise up a shoulder for it.

I've done it with an old Superposed. It feels like one really big kick, and sounds like one really loud report, when you do it.:) When I wrote "really fast", I meant, "really really really f-ing fast!"

Since there's no action to cycle, a gun with two barrels, with both firing pins a mere sear's width from dropping, a bump-fire is very, very close to simultaneous fire. It's not like accidentally bump-firing a semiauto.

In that context, that sounds exactly like what happened.

Now I just want to go disassemble the action on that gun, to further visualize how the action is behaving when this happens. Too bad it's not my gun.

Why? You can only use one at a time anyway. Reminds me of people who go through 3-4 mustangs/camaro's in a short period of time instead of just buying a Z06 or a Viper and having a real sports car. Same money, and you can only use one at a time anyway.

It was an analogy illustrating difference of opinion, but it boils down to; More toys to play with. As for a real sports car. I wouldn't take three Vipers or Z06s for One good 4x4 if I had to keep them for myself.

Not sure about 3 Vipers... Those things are pretty neat. But 1 for 1, I'd much rather have a good 4x4 than a Z06, and probably choose it over a Viper, though I'd have to really think about that...

The Carrera 4S didn't impress me. Ran one a couple a times in my WS6 and then they pulled over and gave me a ride in it/I gave them a ride in the WS6. The Carrera owner freaked out when I floored it. Something about torque and whatnot. The car felt good, and it was nice, but buzzing along at almost 3,000rpm cruising on the highway? Not my thing. No real power to it, either. When we raced the Carrera owner left it in 5th and I felt sad about only beating it by a couple of car lengths, however, when I rode in the car, I learned that at a 70mph punch, 4th gear only held about an 800rpm advantage over 5th, VERY closely spaced. I was not impressed as the Carrera never stopped or slowed my pull even when we wound it out.

The only sports cars under 100K that really do it for me are the Viper (Because it is durable as heck, and has the 'ring record, stomps arse at the drag-strip, and is a true "American exotic"), the new mustang GT, because they managed to keep the weight down while putting a 400hp engine in there, and finally put a 6-speed in it, and the base corvette, because bang-for-buck it can't be beaten. Then again, your 4S pictured above costs more than 100K if you put ANY options on it what-so-ever. It seems to get any sort of fun out of a Porsche other than in the twisties you need to spend 120K+ or get a stripped GT3.

ETA: My encounter was with I belive an '08 4S, maybe they grew a pair since then.

I have no use for a jeep/truck/anything of the sort. I have no boat to pull, and no need to go off-road unless I am on foot.

That being said, the M4 is the Viper of shotguns. I performs VERY well and is durable as heck! There, tied it all togather.

I'm more of a GSXR kinda guy, you know, 185 hp and 375 lbs for 12K dollars. What shotgun is that?

Sounds like a Remington 870P with a hard buttplate. Awesome performance but if you handle it wrong it will bruise you up :p

That really does tie it all together, I've never cared for the m4 either. Nice chatting with you.

Like it or not, it's all a thing of preference, but you will have a tough time beating it and it looks wicked :)

Well, if 7500 is the budget, I'll take one or two nice SxS's from Spain. I'd need another zero on that for a nice David McKay Brown

My old Mossberg 500 that I've had for about 20 years. I can't tell you how many kabillion rounds it's had through it. Everything from rock salt to slugs. It's never missed a beat.

mossberg 835 (a lat 90's model gun). I have dragged this thing thru the mud and muck and dumped it over the boat a few times and it has always shot dependable with little to no maintenance.

Last duck hunt I dropped in overboard and pulled it out of the muck and emptied out the water, put in new shells and proceeded to bag my limit of ducks that day without missing a beat. after the hunt, pulled the trigger group sprayed some CLP inside the trigger group, bolt and magazine and wiped her down to prevent rust, but she was clean inside.
